Stop Treating Autism Like it's a Bad Thing!

PLEASE...I cannot stress this enough, people tell you to be yourself but then others tell you to get rid of autism and cure it, they tell you its the worst thing in the world, that you need help, that they are somehow superior then you.

Well no..you're wrong. If you are someone that thinks they are perfect and thinks that autistic people need help please just shut up because everyone is different so therefore being autistic is ok, because anyone can have autistic traits and that's fine and why do we call it autistic traits anyway...they're human traits.

Yes some people with autism need help, some have it really bad and I'm not talking about them..I'm talking about the independent, a little troubled mild autistic kids that can cope..yes maybe they stress over things but who doesn't? Maybe they are shy but that's normal, if you keep telling them that they need help and keep insisting that they aren't normal..then you are killing their self esteem.

I for one can hide my "Autism" very well..and my mum used to make it a big deal..she told me that she was like my soul protector who taught me how not to be autistic, but hell no..I realize not that even she has mistakes, she's blunt and outspoken...so she may possibly be autistic...she thinks she's so normal which is what I hate.

Telling autistic kids that they arn't normal is one thing..but telling them that you can help them is another, if the kid/teen doesn't even want your help, didn't ask for it and didn't even bring up that they have autism then just let them be.

example

"Hi how are you.." - autistic person

"HI :), do you need help today sweetie...i noticed you have autism on your profile, maybe go to a psychologist and don't take this issue so lightly, we all want you to cope fine and be ok."

That was an actual conversation...You changing the bloody subject out of nothing and legit we all have some autistic traits, honestly HUMAN traits, let people live for god sake. If we just condescend people with disabilities then they will grow up thinking they need help all the time..or even get sick of the help and never accept it ever again, We are all different, we all have flaws so mind your own business and leave them alone.

Yes I have autism, yes I struggle a little, no I'm fine thanks, yep I can cope with it myself. MY personality has nothing to do with my disabilities (Autism and social anxiety), I consider myself really loyal, confused often, distracted sometimes, caring, emotional, shy, logical, overthinks everything, observant and should I even go on? What is the point of just talking like you're the smartest person in the world and assuming that everyone with autism needs help?

Like tbh if you speak like that maybe it is you who needs help.

"you get angry because you're autistic"

"Nope, I get angry because it's normal"

"but you get really angry"

"Well apparently my zodiac sign aries made me angry..or maybe it is autism, who tf cares?"

".....I'm a leo"

(Another *fun* actual real life convo with someone)

Also I'm going to be a little stereotypical here, but most autistic people actually are very very funny and smart. I for example can take things the wrong way sometimes (which is also a social anxiety trait :P) and I also can get upset easily (a sa trait as well) but I am aware of those flaws so I use them in jokes and it makes many laugh..I also purposely act stupid or take things literally whether it's to annoy people who treat me like shit or it's to make people laugh.

I think I've ranted too much so I'm just going to shut up but please remember (if you do) don't treat people with disabilities like they need help..unless they are clearly suffering or ask for it. If not, focus on yourself and your flaws first.

I personally love black cats but i didn't know what other pic to use lmao
