Hard work beats everything else? No, having good connections beat hard work. Anyone who has worked for a while will probably tell you that.

Sure. But getting connections isn't easy and you have to prove yourself to people in order to get connections.

Not really, if you are a good manipulator, you don't even need to prove yourself unfortunately.

Connections are everything. So is working hard. It’s like ying and yang.

@SwoleCook I can't count the amount of people who don't work hard and only have their job/position because of connections.

Yeah bro gonna have to disagree. It’s called working hard and working smart. If you work hard in construction and don’t invest that money in let’s say starting your own contracting company or things in that nature, than you’re just breaking your back.

@SwoleCook Yes, if you want to manage your own business. However, in a lot of companies, if you work hard but are naive, you will likely be the person who gets the work from others who don't work but just have the connections and the job secured. You need to have the connections to progress higher in the hierarchy.

Somewhat true but misleading. A person who works smart, works hard. Will always win. For example. Someone who works hard is someone who goes to school after work to get a certificate for their job, or learns a second language.

The person who lays brick all day breaking their back isn’t working very hard to get out of that situation.

@SwoleCook True, but that still doesn't beat good connections with the right persons unfortunately.

@SwoleCook I have only worked around 2 years so far and I have already seen plenty of examples of people who do not work hard at all and got their job just because they know someone.
