Why being born in 1990 is an amazing thing :)

First of all it's a nice number. I got to experience the year 2000 when I was just 10. I didn't even understand fully that this was a big deal but still had fun :). It's very easy to keep track of my life because it fits nicely into decades. These are just little things but I'll get to the main ones now.

I got to experience the best of 80's 90's and 2000's culture all mashed together while I was growing up.

My dad worked in IT so I experieced the technology boom up close and I learned about computers. My mom was against kids watching TV and being on the computer though. So I was always outside playing with friends. Using my imagination, exploring and going on adventures. I experienced life without technology which was amazing. I still got to go to the mall and things like that which have become a lot rarer nowadays. I experienced the life where everything was still catered to people being in a place in person. I got to see concerts when how you performed live was still the most important thing that audiences cared about. And at the same time I also benefited from the progress and got to use the internet and youtube etc.

It gives you a lot of perspective on things to know how the world was before and how it is now but you can still follow what's going on in the world today even if you don't want to follow everything up close. Until the next big shift happens that changes how humanity lives for ever, this might be the most interesting/special/unique time to be born. I've always been grateful for it but I didn't always understand it fully or know how to express it. But now I saw something that made me want to write this :).

I was born in '89 and while I agree with a lot of what you said, shit has been pretty fucked up. Especially after 9/11. It would have been better for me to be born in the '70s although I would miss numerous medical breakthroughs which have helped me.

Cool. Happy for you. I graduated in 2001. Technically first graduating class of the millennium. They made such a big deal about the 2000 graduates but technically they were the end and we were the beginning.
