What does it mean when a guy says you have "potential"?

He was judging you like he probably thought you had a decent body and decent personality and could maybe grow to like you. This isn't a huge compliment, but it's definitely not an insult. For example, I go on a date with a guy and it's awkward at times but he makes up for it in doing something pretty fun, and his looks are alright but they're improving because he's working out, he has potential. Or if I hear a guy is into the same music as me and he snowboards, then I could potentially like him.
