Right off the bat by him getting a Good First impression, sweetie, he is finding some amazing chemistry, along with Your Great Qualities And knows what he likes, Knows what he May want down the love line for A-------Potential in You that could very well be a potential partner.
He is telling you as well, that you are 'A good girl' because he knows you are not Just Any Girl off the streets but a special kind of girl that he may find he can take home to his mother... he can't find fault right now with what he believes you have are wonderful and true to life characteristics of a Real Relationship that could go far in the future.
Go slow with his flow. Nurse and nurture The beginnings of a beguine that you both have started and see for yourself if He is every bit like You and that You find Him-----Just as magical as he is finding you.

Depends on the context. If it was about your relationship he probably meant he sees good potential for the future. Like somebody he could see spending a long time with. It means from what he sees so far it might go somewhere.

If it was more about your own life and the direction you are going, he probably means you have potential to be successful. For example in your career or things you want to accomplish in life.

There may be other contexts, but those two are what really comes to mind. Whatever the context, "potential" refers to the future in a positive way.
