Difference between fortuitous and gratuitous?

i know:
fortuitous- accidental, occurring by a happy chance, lucky
gratuitous- (adj) freely given, not called for by circumstance, unwarranted

but they're so similar please tell me the distinction?

Fortuitous refers to having some good fortune or luck that results in a positive event, like randomly finding something you want.

Gratuitous is when you're given something freely. An example would be a random gift.

The main difference between them is that gratuitous refers being given something good, while fortuitous refers to having good fortune.
