What is the difference between FLIRTING and giving a COMPLIMENT?

A guy I know tells me one of the following things every time I see or talk to him:

"You are beautiful, you are an enigma in our town, you are perfect, you have everything, guys always stare at you, you don't realize how hot you are, you'll never run out of guys hitting on you. "

Are these compliments or flirting? We used to kick it but haven't in a while.

Yeah... he likely wants to play with you. There is a SLIGHT chance he sees you lacking confidence for some reason and is saying those things to encourage you to feel better about yourself... that is difficult to tell without actually being there.. but it's more likely that he's flirting.

Thanks- its funny on one occasion he did mention that he thought that I lacked confidence- those exact words. So, when putting it in that light I actually think they are compliments to boost my confidence. Oddly enough, I am a very confident person,but not for some reason, around him I lose that.

Those aren't compliments. Those flirtatious comments. Compliments are like "oh have you lost weight?" " wow, I love your hair style or I love your dress or shoes."

Ok- so why would a guy tell me he is not gonna sleep with me anymore and yet say these things every time I see him?

Well, that's is kind of weird. Maybe he changed his mind or he doesn't think he's good enough for you.
