Attractive fathers don't pass their looks to their sons?

if you guys didn't know about this 6 or 5 years ago a study came out saying attractive fathers don't pass their looks onto their sons but attractive mothers do pass their looks onto their daughters and do you guys find this to be really true.

Not at all.
Also, as children grow older they tend to grow into their looks.
Just because someone isn't very attractive as a child doesn't mean they won't be
very good looking when they are grown.
If every one based their knowledge off of that study , then i'm pretty
sure a lot of women wouldn't want to reproduce with very attractive men.
Genetics isn't determined in that way!

I'd be curious to see what kind of research they had to back up that study. Like someone else said, the genes you get from your parents are random and there's just as much a chance that woman would pass down good looks to her daughter as a man to his son.

Any link? Actually I think the father has more genetic influence on the son than the mother because he gives the boy his whole Y chromosome, minus mutations. The sons X chromosome is actually a mix of both parents. It's been a long time since I've studied this but I think that's correct.

Actually, daughters get one X chromosome from each parent. They don't mix together. One comes from the egg and the other one from the sperm.

The son's X chromosome comes exclusively from the mother. That's why it's mostly men affected by X chromosome linked disorders, like male pattern baldness and hemophilia, for example. There's no other X chromosome to take over the faulty one.

@musicbrain5 Yeah I don't remember off the top of my head. I would have to think about it and my mind isn't there right now lol. I know he want's to justify bad looks in males which is fine. It's not like we can be sure of sex even if males had zero influence on boys which they clearly do. I'm not sure about the study, but lots of these studies pop up and are destroyed by the next study. I would be so skeptical of this. Even if there is less influence there is some. And I really don't like people trying to bring others down to make themselves feel better like he's trying to do.

I googled it but the sources I found did not seem particularly reliable. I know some guys who women find very attractive who look just like their dads so this just seems to defy reality.

Well, I have seen too many examples of the father looking hotter than the son so its one often true theory.
