My mom won't let me get a job?

She is way over protective. I'm 16 years old and she won't let me better myself by getting a job at a clothing store down the street. Her reasoning is because of taxes and because she doesn't want me to cross that street. Are you kidding me? Are there any ways i can work around this?

My mom like closed the purse strings when I turned 16. She was like, "Get a job now! Earn your keep!"

And when I turned 18 she straight up said, "You must have a job in order to live in this house. If you want to be a bum and sit on your ass you can do that at the homeless shelter."

So... yeah. Working was a thing I had to do lol

I think getting a job is a great idea for someone your age, you are entering into adult hood pretty soon.
Try to discuss this with her... even your Dad (if you can get him on your side )

Tell her how you feel about her 'protective side'. Being open with her will clear it up and she'll see how responsible you can be.

There's probably a reason not to walk down that street. Just listen to your mom. If you want to get a job when you're 18 then go ahead
