Catfishing is the act of deception. NOT JUST WITH PICTURES!!

Here is an example: (Trolling is for fun, catfishing is when you actually try to lie)

Catfishing: Hi! i am a 15 year old girl from mexico! i am kind of lonely, wanna talk?
Reality: I am 17 and not even close to being from Mexico and not so lonely.

They usually either do it to get something (perv trying to get pictures), talk dirty, or just cause they are bored.

Trolling isn't as serious. Catfishing is you go out of your way to be fake.

I deal with them all the time. Pain in the ass.

It's fishing for catfish. You don't troll, it's more of a on shore or dock fishing. You put some meat or something gross and let it sink to the bottom and wait for a bottom scanning catfish to find it and take the bait. They have whiskers (like a cat) for scanning the bottom for food
