It's pretty clear. Just think about the things you do, that show respect to others.

Guys who respect you, are treating you in a way that doesn't ever make you question them.

Guys who are using you, send you mixed signals and leave you guessing about how they really feel about you.

How can I tell? Because I've had enough unfortunate relationships and not enough wisdom to "decode" the signs/signals until I found a real man who treats me like a queen and gave me something to compare to. I eventually found out this simple fact:

If a guy really cares about you, respects you, values you and wants something serious with you... he is going to make his feelings known very clearly in both his actions and verbally. Why? Because he isn't going to want to risk some other guy swooping in and taking you away from him.

A guy who doesn't fit the above criteria is giving you mixed signals, his actions don't match what he says, he never follows through, cancels plans at the last minute, he only contacts you when it's easy for him, he never goes out of his way for you, he only reaches out later in the evening, he never wants to spend a normal day with you, he treats you like an option instead of a priority, he only takes you out sometimes but not on a regular basis, he acts like he is testing the waters for something better, he never mixes you with his friends or family, etc... essentially behaves in a way that you would never behave if you respected someone. If you are asking "does he?"... then the answer is always "No." Guys who really like you don't leave you wondering.

Remember, just because someone is interested in you, doesn't mean they respect of value you.

I don't know about respect. I judge any interaction by if I feel comfortable with the person or not. If a person was dissing you more than likely you would get a vibe. For a man to show respect would probably treat you as an equal, communicate fully, good manners, be attentive etc all without being patronising.

And if he was patronising, it means he doesn't?

He was patronising towards my clear lack of a social life.

I have to be there any possibly he was being playful - Laughing with you rather than at you.

He was kind of smirking when I told him I don't have plans for the long weekend... he seems to pick on me a lot because of it.

Was he bragging about his plans when doing this?

No, not really.

I'm sort of anti-social, maybe he's confused as to why. It's not like I'm bad-looking or not able to talk to people, so I guess he's judging me for being uninterested in everyone.

I am going to give benefit of the doubt because he wasn't bragging about his weekend and say maybe he was trying to make conversation by asking about your weekend. Could have been " Shucks mine isn't that mad either".

No he just seems like one of those overly 'wanting to fit into university culture,' type people.

It likely baffles him that I don't give a shot lol

I get you well if you are content in what you are doing, continue doing it. If its any consolation that kind of stuff goes out the window after college. You will probably be in a mixed workforce who do all sorts of different things at the weekend.

They listen to you, they listen to what you have to say, they appreciate the things that make you unique as a person, they trust you, and they do not think they are better than you
