Confidence needs to be earned to be real. There is no excuse for arrogance.
"The act or habit of arrogating, or making undue claims in an overbearing manner; that species of pride which consists in exorbitant claims of rank, dignity, estimation, or power, or which exalts the worth or importance of the person to an undue degree; proud contempt of others; lordliness; haughtiness; self-assumption; presumption."
Note that arrogance is "undue", "exorbitant", "self-assumption" and "presumption"
You can't earn what is not due. You can not deserve what is exorbitant.

No it's not earned, but yes when a person feels he has made his name, has achieved a lot he/she automatically gets a little or lot arrogant. I also belive arrogance is something we have or we don't have, because some people they are never arrogant, no matter how much they would have achieved or how talented they may be.
Yes I strongly believe that arrogance should be earned
If someone has a skill/craft/talent that they utilize each day and is considered good at what they do, then arrogance can be shown.
Earned with what? Talent?
Usually it isn't earned.
It's the feeling of entitlement that causes it.
No, arrogance is a vice and it is never earned, no matter how amazing how someone is.
