Would a guy travel out of state just to see you if he wasn't looking for something serious with you?

We have tons of mutual friends from our hometown, and we've talked over the phone for over a month, and now he's coming down, on his birthday, to spend it with me... but I'm not sure a guys capable of doing this just to get some. (W/ that said he is attractive and has his stuff together

Ok so its two days before he's coming down here and he's barely talked to me all day because he's "addicted to the game on his phone"... should I take this as a red flag, or nothing of significance?

I highly doubt he wants to come down to see you for sex. You should know him a little bit better than that by now if you've been talking for over a month on the phone and you both know mutual friends.

It's probably your first time meeting with him? Based off of your summary. Which makes it even more unlikely that he just wants to hook up.

And I'm sure you would have gotten some kind of indication from your phone calls. He said he's coming down on his birthday to spend the day with you, but did he hint or joke at anything sexual occurring?

And I'm sure your mutual friends would have warned you if he wasn't out for anything serious.

Thanks for the response!! You're right it is the first time we've seen each other since 9th grade( over 10 years ago) and hi best friend is like a brother to me, so don't think he would play around but niether one of us have told any of them we are "talking", but we have joked, however I've also mentioned his sleeping on the sofa, and he asked twice before I said yes. I'm just skeptical because I still find it bizare that someone would drive over 600 miles day before their bday for a date.

I find it quite cute that it's going to be the first time you've seen each other since being freshman in high school. Especially since how much people change from their high school days, I believe that people grow so much more and mature and that's great you're both on that level now.

If none of your shared friends know that you are interested in each other then I can't really judge his character anymore than they could since they aren't aware.

He probably joked about the sofa thing because he wanted to make sure. But since you said the sofa comment he's probably at least hoping for some cuddling. And the fact that you told him he will be spending the night on the couch and yet he's still willing to drive 600 miles on his birthday shows how much of a true gentleman he is.

I live in Europe and I'm going to New York just to visit my best friend who I've never met in real life before. She has a boyfriend. I f***ing love her to death, but only as a friend and I'm not interested in doing anything other than simply meeting her and hanging out.

So don't worry. =p Maybe he just wants to hang out with you because you're important to him. Whether he does like you as more than a friend or not, it should only matter if you're taken. Because if you aren't, then what's the problem if he is looking for something serious? o.o

Thanks for the response guys! It does make me feel a bit better. I also went ahead and asked a mutual friend, whos like a brother to me and wouldn't lie to me, about him, and he didn't have anything bad to say about the guy. So, so far so good. & to answer your question Ephram, no neither one of us are in a relationship so it wouldn't be bad if we hooked up, but I wouldn't want to be somebodys "birthday gift".

I would say he is most likely seeing you just to see you. If you two are good friends then he most likely won't try anything. I've been in similar situations, visited my best friend halfway across the country just to see her again and hung out with her and her boyfriend. Good luck to ya!

I don't think he would travel out of state just to only see you, I think he wants more then that. That's my opinion.
