First and foremost, it's SO good that you decided to quit smoking, and I hope you succeed.
Quitting smoking is a really complex process, because you are not just dealing with withdrawals from the nicotine, but also from having to break the whole habit itself, given that it such a was part of your everyday routine and now its not, this is most often what leads to feelings of anxiety and irritation when people quit smoking, as cigarettes are often a source of stress relief or just a comforting few minutes of familiarity and routine. So its completely reasonable to be feeling really on edge at the moment.
Can't tell you how long this will last, its different for everyone. Always remind yourself of why you're quitting (health reasons should be most important, but also the cost of the habit and the not wanting the feelings of dependence are good things to motivate smokers) and realise that while life really sucks right now it won't for too much longer and you'll be feeling so much better once this stage passes.
If you lapse and go back to smoking, this is a setback but not a failure, so you should attempt to quit again as soon as possible. It usually takes a smoker 3-4 serious attempts before they can quit for good. See your doctor or pharmacist for some advice on quitting, join a quit smoking support service, and maybe you can try nicotine replacement therapy, or prescription medications that assist you to quit smoking.
Good luck, hope you start to feel better soon!

I imagine it's different for everyone, but maybe a week or two. If you're looking to feel better sooner, I would start nicotine patches or gum and slowly wean yourself off.
