I'm a guy and this happen to me twice. First time I was at a concert and a girl walked by me, and smacked me on the ass. I turned and as she walked away she smiled at me. Actually, they're not. Or at least it's arguable. The law allows for what is usually described as delf defense in reasonable force. Slapping someone on the ass isn't anywhere near breaking someone's nose; an injury which could require a doctors attention and therefore cost money.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to find out if the guy could turn around and sue her on the grounds that her unreasonably harsh reaction has caused him to lose money from not being able to appear in work and it has caused him emotional distress so he will need money in order to cope with that haha!
