YWCA - Young Women's Christian Association
So is it wrong if an atheist stays in YMCA hotel or use their other facility? Or facility of any religious association for that matter?
This is in reply to a comment by @ffsxx I read while going through the opinions here.
The opinion is as follow
"Don't you think it's a little un-Christian like to deny someone for their beliefs? God wants you to love and accept and help everyone regardless. That is what religion is about."
The bible is about the denial of other beliefs. God destroyed cities and had multiple wars be fought due to people not believing in him.
If due to some miss fortune a witch (it's not an atheist I know but it's still someone that does not believe in/oppose the Christian god) should want to stay at the YMCA. The bible clearly states that the witch should be killed (exodus 22:18).
So it won't actually be so un-Christian to deny Atheist, Pagans, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc entrance into a place that is supposed to be led by the god of the bible.
Sorry @ffsxx I didn't mean to be rude or put you on the spot. Your reply just opened up an angle for the argument. Peace be upon thee 😉.
No rudeness here. bim completely open to a civil debate. The bible talks a lot of nonsense from what I understand (I haven't read It, granted so correct me if I'm wrong on any of my points) but it is also against things such as divorce. Plenty of Christians understand that in order to continue on in a healthy manner divorce can be necessary. In my opinion the purpose of religion is not only to explain the creation of our world but also to guide us in making moral and just decisions when we lose our way. Now I'm not upset because people think people of another religion can't use Christian facilities. I'm thinking about what that means on a bigger scale; acceptance for those who don't have the same beliefs. Yes, the bible shuns those who believe something else but isn't it the duty of Christians to adapt to the times as well and realize that the purpose of religion is to love?
@ffsxx no not really although the bible pretends to be about love it is actually quite cold and heartless in regards to those that don't believe in the god of the bible. Paul wrote in, I believe it was Corinthians 14 (don't quote me on the chapter. If you need it I'll just go double check), that you should throw those who do not turn from their ways out of the church and hand them over to the hand of Satan.
And on the topic of adapting to the times. Christians can try to do that but then they will have to start swaying their interpretation of the bible and change their believes regarding certain topics. Which is totally unbiblical. It has already started happening in regards to homosexuality. Which is why ado many Christians are claiming that America is doomed. Which is quite stupid.
If you want to you can dm me. Then well talk there. 😉
Well, it's not wrong, I'll tell you that.
Does that atheist have equal financial obligations as the Christians (and yes, I'm monetising religion, go cry to the crusaders)? If he does, of course he can. Otherwise the rest of the community is carrying his burden. That's the only way you can segregate this.
Segregating it on a religious basis is just plain wrong, because we're not talking about distribution of obligation in this case, rather intolerance towards the odd one out. And we all know how well that goes.
well.. this religion is about accepting (or should be about)
so you're free to use it because they should help anyone in need
Yes. Absolutely. How do you think atheists become Christian? Another Christian probably brought him to Christ.

While the YMCA has christian roots, its largely a nonjudgmental establishment looking to help young people in need. the Christianity is a side order people can eat if they really want to but it's not necessary, which is the best kind of Christianity.
Its exactly right and fits perfectly to the Christian message. Do unto others as you would have them do to you. If one day religion was proven or disproved then there would STILL have been the fact that they gave you low rent accom and would maybe do the same favour.
Why are the Christians using the name of a gay song about a a gay bar? 😶
Which song?
You do what you have to do to get by. If you need a place to sleep or even just to take a piss, you take everything you can get.
You'd be disobeying the almighty sky god. Bible and Quran explicitly state to not freely associate with nonbelievers. I guess we are dirty to y'all for some reason.
The purpose of such facilities is to provide a community environment, not to segregate religious views
Of course. The facilities are for whoever pays the fee. Just because an organization has a religious affiliation doesn't mean its events or facilities are only for those who follow that creed.
those things would exist without religion also. the only difference would be the acronym
I believe so because until now i didn't even know the full acronym meanimg. :/
Belief is one thing and using facilities is totally different.
It's not a church so who cares? It's purpose was to be all inclusive so no?
i find it quite wrong because they aren't christian
I never went there and won't go there, be it right or wrong.
No, its not wrong. They take anyone.
Yes bucause that's what Jesus would want
@Name_Meee rather "if you don't convert you will suffer more than the most despised sinners suffered."
@Name_Meee the Bible contradicting itself!
What else is new?
How is it wrong in the first place?
It's all good
no it doesn't matter
Yes..
Not at all
I don't see why not?
Yep it fine
It is right
