Do you think it's rude to just disappear without warning in the middle of a text conversation?

I don't mean just occasionally texting each other now and again, but you are texting each other at a fairly brisk pace as if it were a real conversation and is even engaging. Would you find it rude if in the middle of said engaging conversation the other person just stops texting back without warning? They didn't even offer a 'hey sorry I gotta go right now' just nothing.
Yes it's rude
No it isn't rude
It depends (explain)

All I'm asking is for just a little common courtesy. And you don't even have to be specific. Just say 'hey I'm sorry, had to attend to something' that's it. Just some kind of acknowledgement that their time is precious too and having that engaging conversation with them was worth having.

Otherwise it really does feel like a slap in the face and I would definitely think twice before attempting another serious convo with them again.
