Should Halsey be considered a Hypocrite?

People who identify as being "Black", but who don't fit your narrow physical description of the mythological black race, are telling you something.

Since I have people in my family who look very different from the societal expectations of being "Black", I feel a little more qualified to speak about this.

Madam, you can claim whatever you wish. They are "Black" people. They are accepted as being "Black" by their friends and family. They identify as being "Black". Raciology is nothing but superstition. Because of the ethnic mix in my family. My Auntie looks indigenous. My cousin looks Asian. Several in my family could pass for being "White".

We are "Black" and we never wanted to be anything but "Black" people.

Not in today’s world where we are divided. Let’s face reality. Plus the main issue is that instead of actually talking about things that are accurate she’s talking about things that makes you scratch your damn head.

I agree that you are divided. And I won't argue with you about your identity or how you group people. But other people don't accept your racial boundaries. We can't be different "races" in our family, it would destroy us. We are of the same culture, "Black" culture. We do not accept race and race cannot tell us who we are.

We identify with the history and culture of the Africans brought to this nation as slaves. And we leave it at that.

Perhaps in the future, the children in our family or their children will have a more expansive identity. Perhaps they will identify in ways we cannot even dream of.

But this is the state of things today.

As for Halsey, my view remains the same. If her point is valid, then it is valid. If it is idiotic, then it is idiotic. This has nothing to do with her identity.

I mean everyone's a hypocrite about one thing or another, but good lord celebrities are something else entirely. And that who shampoo thing was even dumber than the usually drama. Her calling herself a black woman is laughable.

If you’re black and one of your parents is mixed with white that doesn’t make you white. You’re still black and just because she’s 25% black doesn’t mean she can automatically fit in our category especially since she doesn’t have textured hair like most of us do

Also she claims that if a white person covers a song sung by a black artist it’s considered “whitewashing” 🤦🏾‍♀️. She’s only a quarter black but says she a black woman 👀 but has complete white features and hair texture. You may know her from the Shampoo incident

No, I don't follow celebrities. I know her song gasoline. That's all I know about her. My general stance is that everybody is too sensitive about everything and the people most outspoken about it have massive egos and just want to control everybody by making them feel guilty and shaming them and what they are doing is counterproductive to the cause they supposedly care so deeply about.
