I absolutely do, barring certain exceptions. If one is physically unable to maintain their yard due to age or physical disability, that's excusable, and if it were my neighbor I would offer to help them.

I hate looking like white trash. I don't want shit in my yard, I don't want my grass getting out of control. It lends itself to tick infestation, mice, and other pests. It makes you home look like shit, and makes you look lazy, and it brings down property values. I grew up on a farm, we had dead cars rotting on our property, shit piled up. It's trashy.

I don't fuck around on mowing, I take that shit serious.

It affects the value of neighbor's homes and the overall view of the entire neighborhood. So people have an obligation to keep it to a minimum standard that's within reason for the neighborhood they live in. If they didn't want that obligation they shouldn't have bought a house in that neighborhood. It's just part of being a home owner and good neighbor.

Where I live it's illegal to let grass grow too long. If someone let's it go too long the city will take care of it and charge the owner for the work.

I don't like really snobby local ordinances, but people should at least keep things to a minimum standard.

No. I don't judge people for a messy yard/garden , or house for that matter. I don't know their circumstances, so I just overlook their unkempt yard etc

Situation is everything. I have a neighbor that doesn't lift a finger but can afford to have his yard professionally landscaped. I have another neighbor that is retired and she has the most beautiful flowerbed but she spends a lot of money keeping it up and she spends a lot of time tending to her yard ( she says it's her therapy) lol. I have another neighbor that's 75 and she tries but she can only do so much we all pitch in a bit helping her here and there. She starts something and we usually take turns finishing it for her when she tires out. We both enjoy the conversation.
I don't have any neighbor that neglects their yard in my mind. But if they did and it got too bad the city would tend to it themselves and bill them.

No I dont think less of them. I do admire how nice it looks when it’s cared for! I sometimes let mine go but the inside of my home is always clean! I just don’t feel good about coming home when my yard looks like crap! But that’s my own personal thing for myself not others!

Okay so if something came up and you just didn't have the time or the ability to tend to your yard, I get it. It's a lot of work to keep even a small yard looking nice.
But as someone who has had mice in three different houses because the neighbours don't maintain their yard and therefor have created a mouse santuary, it does piss me off a bit. Like come on, you don't have to do EVERYTHING but at least cut your damn grass and throw out that pile of stuff the rodents are living in.

I usually think the are renting not house owners. People that own their own homes generally take real good care of their yard and house compared to renters. Which makes sens. I you are renting if you improve, decorate or repair the place you are renting you are raising the value of the house for the landlord who in 99% of cases rather than be grateful will either raise your rent or sell the place meaning you wasted a lot of time, effort and money on a home that was not your own.

The house in the picture looks fine. Sometimes they look a mess and it's kind of unfair to the neighbourhood, but if the owner has a disability, then you can't hold it against them. If it is pure laziness, then I do think less of them.

If you leave it completely unkempt and overgrown, people will assume the property is vacant, or that you do not care about it. It's like a guy having unkempt facial and neck hair - it implies apathy and neglect.
