Why do I get scared when men raise their voice?

I'm terrified of men getting angry or raising their voice. Any man. My boyfriend raises his voice sometimes in an argument, I get so scared and start crying. He always stops and apologizes.

It is more like an instinct. It happens to me too when I feel intimidated and powerless. It is not always the case though, just when the situation is out of control. I doesn't happen with logical arguments if they express themselves calmly.
