What was cool when you were young but isn’t cool now?

A lot of the things, being emo/goth was cool back in the day. Don't see a whole lot of people doing that style anymore. Having a whole bunch of tats use to be considered cool now it's just kinda norm in society, especially bands people most likely expect them to have tats.
Boy bands definitely use to be cool but are only cool in Korea these days. older games and tv shows like dragon ball etc..
um yes, one of the biggest and most popular boy bands as of right now is BTS and EXO which happen to south Korean boy bands. I should know, love their music lol
what you mean?
I'm not a fashion so I can't be out of fashion lol Also tell that to the bts fans on youtube who have given bts over 333,284,841 views on their recent video that was a month ago.
Game boys, the DS
But now they have the Nintendo Switch.
PSP
Gameboy emulator
Connector sketch pens
everything 90's

I could spend 15 minutes on jeans alone haha. Baggy jeans, colored jeans (I had green, maroon, fuckin’ PURPLE😝) and my matching colored denim vests lmfao (I can’t even tell you how cool I thought I was in those outfits🤣), the cool brands were like Marithé-François Girbaud, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.
I remember guys wearing Africa pendants and Flavor Flav clock necklaces sometimes. Fuckin’ 8-BALL JACKETS, holy fuck lmao. Starter brand sports team anything (now available at Walmart lmfao), especially the pullover winter jackets, could get you beaten and robbed, literally.
The brand Cross Colours was EVERYTHING.
Also loved these pants called Skidz, they were basically pajama pants/shorts that you wore outside that cost $40 in 1990-dollars lmao, and they just had a patch on the back pocket that’s the standard “Caution: Slippery Road Ahead” street sign.
Also, I just saw Greta Van Fleet live the other night, and they are legit ROCK STARS, just outstanding. However, besides them, I’d be hard pressed to name you a current popular rock band, that genre seems to have disappeared from the mainstream. I listened mostly to rap and R&B growing up, but I’d say rock/alternative/grunge still had a bigger following. Those were the kids I’d get in fights with at school lmfao.
I could really go on all day with this, haha. I remember wearing a lot of hockey jerseys for a couple years. Reebok Pump sneakers were insanely hot in the streets. Slap bracelets were big for a year. Another year we were all wearing these colored-plastic baby pacifiers you got from gumball machines on strings around our necks lmao.
Some activities are out of style too. I don’t think hanging out at the mall is really much of a thing anymore. Same with arcades. I actually wonder what teenagers do for fun now, haha. Like we went places and did things, I feel like you just go over someone’s house now and text and watch Netflix, and swipe through Tinder, and you only go outside once in a while to “do it for the ‘gram”, haha. I don’t know, maybe I’m off base, I should ask a question about that sometime.
But yeah...”when I was a kid” was a long time ago now, so pretty much everything thing is out, except for the stuff they brought back in style. I saw a young girl in Fila sneakers on the subway the other night and it warmed my heart and soul lmao.
@SexyAshh I felt like I was in a time machine, haha. They had big screens on either side of the stage and it was black and white footage. If I didn’t know better and just saw that screen, I’d be like “oh, this some concert from like 1974” haha. I’m not even a huge classic rock guy, I like it, but it’s not a top 5 genre for me. But GVF is just bananas👍👍
@SexyAshh I do “like” it, I just grew up on rap so it took me a while to warm up to it. Skynyrd and Pink Floyd are two of my favorite bands for sure. I get into some Zeppelin too, that’s actually who I hear comparisons of GVF to, I think mostly because of the singer’s voice, he sounds so much like Robert Plant. I guess I’m thinking of classic rock as 60s and 70s, like before I was born shit. 80s is probably in there too but I know a lot of it from growing up then. Guns N Roses, all that stuff. Love them too by the way. I even liked late 80s hair metal, albeit somewhat ironically haha.
JAMS were popular when I was about 5 years old. They were really colorful shorts with weird patterns...
What if I told you I own two pairs of Jams?😂
@WhiteSteve I'd guess they were normal boardshort, not like the 1980s ones.
They pretty much look like the ones posted here🤙 Those bottom ones with the pineapples here are incredible though, wish I had those haha

Parted hair, I guess it's called curtain hair cut.

Speaking of men's fashion: The Saturday Night Fever look. Double knit, three piece suits with bell-bottom pants. Long, pointed shirt collars. Gold medallions on chain necklaces. Styled hair.
I was a rocker when that shit came out, so I despised it then and still do.
I didn't follow the crowd so everything I liked back then, I still like now. Only sheep and followers say stuff like "why do you like that? It isn't cool anymore... lame".
I still like oldschool punk, I still play CDs, I still collect cassette tapes, I still dress vintage etc.
Why do you keep collecting tapes if you have CDs?
@Jamie05rhs a lot of metal and punk distributions sell demo tapes
Okay
Baggy jeans
Dress shoes with a thick sole and a thick heel lol
Buckle over laces
Middle part hair 😂
Skipping class
Backstreet boys 😂
Cracker Jack that had actual toys in them.
Gum balls for 1 cent.
Ducktails on guys.
Winky Dink.
Super Circus. (see pic)
(and a little later) Polyester leisure suits that melted if you tried to iron them.
I'm going to go with MTV which was actual MUSIC TELEVISION back in the day, no rap booty popping crap they show now.
Comedy central used to be funny and filled with... comedy
TV Land was cool back then too
I've noticed it's become a thing for people to wear clothes (like pants) that look like they're too small for them. When i was young we called them "high waters" and ask people if they were waiting for a flood. Now people do it deliberately. Smh lol
We’d always tell people to “pull their shoes up” lmao
Spiky hair, at least I thought it was, as I had my hair like that for years.
I used to have the black shirt with flames on it, that I wore a few times and I'm pretty sure I thought that look cool.
Bring low riders back pls.
Selfies used to actually be considered cool and deep, like your own personal model portfolio, back during the mid 2000s when I was a preteen. Now it makes you look like a loser. Everyone wants interesting group photos.
Pogs were big when I was a kid as well as the original super marios game which was 2-D.
Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt!
Mp3 players and CDs, and hannah montana. As a kid i had a hannah montana obsession but now i hate that bitch 😂
I took care of these little shits like they were my own.
Playstation
Gameboys
Furbies (they scare the shit out of me still)
-ipods
-coach purses
-abercrombie and fitch (all i wore)
-razr cell phones/blackberries/ and sidekick cell phones
I still rock my iPod Classic with the dial system to this day at the gym lmao. And I used to work at A&F AND Hollister🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
Hahah, really?🙈😂 i lost mine but i probably still would if i didn't use spotify. But then again i lost mine and have not a clue where it is. I still have a zune? Ha
And no way, you do look like the type;p i liked hollister too but we didn't have one here, it was about 150 miles away.
I use Apple Music off my phone too, but I just have like 3,000 songs on my iPod, some I even forget exist until I hear it again and I’m like “how could I have ever forgotten this?” Plus there’s a lot of old mixtape stuff on there, and Apple Music just has studio albums usually. Plus they don’t make a phone with enough memory for my entire collection of music, haha.
And yeah, we had A&F and HCo right down the way from each other in the mall here, there just two stores in between us. It’s all the same company so they’d just kind of interchange us if needed. So it would either be a techno day or a pop punk day, haha. Had to laugh at Mad TV though, solid burn lmao🔥🔥🔥

Hannah Montana and all other disney tv movies, heelies, thin eye brows, colored contacts, backstreet boys, kesha, nerf
As a teenager it was Hanson, tamagotchi and jnco jeans. When I was really young (like 7-ish) it was slap bracelets and New Kids on the Block

Nightclubs were cool to me when I was young. Until I discovered a lot of drugs took place n date-rape as a unfortunate result. Night clubs n stuff are OK but not when they are abused like that. Nowadays I prefer the alternative scene
But then I always did prefer the alternative scene anyway. I just was told I can't go near it coz of my gender. For being a girl. So go figure for the way I live my life now. 🙂
