If I witnessed what you described I would separate the two of them and call the cops on both. However, I would be harsher on him (assuming he had an avenue of escape) because he can do way more damage. A woman's bone structure is less dense to account for adaptability to all the change in her body. However, this makes her more susceptible to injury from outside forces. If he had no means of escape then I would be more lenient, depending upon the type of force used and the intent of the slap.

It might seem unfair to some, but I watched my mother get abused a lot as a child. My mom was a better fighter in terms of skill but the guys' strength still left her hurt a lot. I cannot condone a man hitting a woman outside of self-defense, and even then he should show enough restraint to simply control the situation and not go beyond that. Same with women, except I give women more leeway because the average woman is not as inclined to fighting as the average man. Not saying women are weaker. Do not confuse what I am saying on that. It's just that I was raised in a family where men value women.

Equality for women stopped this? And people fear going to prison in name of self defense.
I never attack people, but if a person attacks me first - I expect no one, not my husband.. not even the police to protect me. Also I can't hit them according to UK law.
My plan is just to keep running and tire them out or get hit. :-I
It was hard for me to accept this is the norm.
