Really, such restrooms are just begging for trouble and are a lawsuit waiting to happen. It does not take too much imagination to figure out that the first time there is some incident in such a restroom, the presumed injured/insulted/discriminated gender/genders/whatever will high tail it to the nearest lawyer to seek restitution against the business /facility whose restrooms were in some way inadequate to the needs/safety of the aforementioned gender/genders/whatever.
Put simply, such restrooms are merely the latest trendy expression of the American public's penchant for translating any want or whim into a need and thus, mutatis mutandis into a right. The consequences for such changes to be sorted out later, no doubt at great cost and in a fit of faux moral outrage.
Beyond that, it is really hard to get too vexed. It is more tiresome than anything. It being really hard to imagine that an individual of whatever gender who uses such a restroom will feel themselves vindicated and equal in the eyes of society. Alternatively that if they do, they should be envied for having a life so good that using a public restroom gives them a sense of righteous vindication.
By all means, let there be gender neutral bathrooms. Indeed, in the name of equality, all stall doors should be removed so that there can be legal confirmation that indeed ALL genders - beyond the long outdated two - are using the restrooms. Unless and until all can see that we have reached the new age perfect equality in every possible way, true equality will never be attained and society's gross inequality will be perpetuated forever and anon.
It was for gender neutral restrooms that there was fired the "shot heard round the world," great statesman gathered to declare the birth of a new nation in 1776, young men died on the beaches of Normandy and Martin Luther King wrote his letter from the Birmingham jail. Once we have such restrooms we may sleep soundly the sleep of the just. History will have reached its apogee and utopia have arrived on Earth.
Yes, I am being sarcastic. Good grief.
Actually, I recently went to a bar I've never been to before, and I had to use the toilet and when I got inside I just saw a row of sinks and 4 doors. I was like "a toilet for all?". It turns out the doors had a badge on them. Obviously went to the one for males, and it's standard male toilet. Several separate stalls (booths? What do you call them in English), and several urinals, and after your fi ish your business you have to wash your hands in the joint sinks. My point is, just by having joint sinks, the place spent less space on the toilets, less money on water and power instalation. If we could just remove the urinals (which every male hates tbh), we could have a very efficient way to make toilets, for men and women at the same place. Obviously disabled people would need a separate toilet because of the special needs. It's just my take on it. And you don't actually have to be afraid of anything. It's a public place. If someone assaults you, just yell and someone will come. I actually wish someone assaulted me so I could sue them and squeeze some cash from their pockets.
Eh.
I think transgenders should have their own honestly, with both commodities such as tampon holders and urinals.
Had a trans friend who would get irritated because he had to use the girls room to change his tampon.
Imagine a dude just walking into the girls restroom, complaining about bleeding through his pad for the 2nd time today...
It's stupid... if you got a sausage, pickle, shlong, johnson, frank and beans, you know a dick, then obviously you go to the mens. If you have muffin, poom poom, vay jay jay, whipering eye, key hole, sword's man sheeth... then take your ass to the women's rest room... i mean seriously... you're tearing me apart with the bullshit lisa!
At the bar where I worked, we had men's abd women's bathrooms separated. We made it a point that everyone could go to whichever one they wanted, but the men's had urinals and the women's had trash bins. Nobody complained and when there was a line, women went to the men's all the time.

I think people need to be honest with themselves and the reality of the matter. Just because you want to be, or think you’re a female doesn’t make it true. If you were born a man, use the men’s room. It’s an indisputable fact. That’s reality. Accept it.
If you’re afraid of how people will treat you, maybe you need to better sort out your issues and make some self-improvements. I’m not trying to be insensitive, just keeping it 100.
Nobody these days wants to accept responsibility for their problems, you have to, because nobody else will. And honestly, people are as tolerant as ever of LGBTQ’s... nobody is going to have a problem with you if you’re not already drawing unwanted attention to yourself. That’s half the problem with these people, they’re so flamboyant and outwardly pervy, most people are going to have trouble respecting that, because you just don’t act that way in public. They’re their own worst enemies. Just be cool about who you are, and you’ll have no problems with anyone.
It’s 2019. Act normally and live in the real world, everything will going to be ok. There’s no need for these political discussions, they are interpersonal problems and need to be addressed as such.
"Act normally and live in the real world"
This is the real world, and normally people don't make meddle in other people's business. Mind yours and we'll all be fine.
@HungLikeAHorsefly OP asked for opinions, I gave mine. I’m not attacking you or anyone else. I’m trying to help anyone that may face LGBTQ related struggles actually. Just offering a perspective that some people may not consider.
I believe it's fine because I know myself and I would never take advantage of that situation. I would only vote it's not okay because I fear what creeps may do if that is an option. I have a little sister and if she ever told me some guy creeped on her or made her uncomfortable in a gender neutral bathroom I would be furious and probably try to look for the guy so I could seriously injure him. However, if a woman feels comfortable with the idea of having a gender neutral bathroom and actually using it then I have no problem.
I'm surprised there are still people against this...
1. No more toilet queues for women
2. walking half a mile because there is only one male toilet.
3. You're in a bathroom stall! Nobody is interested in what you're doing in there.
4. Dangerous for women? There are laws against that kind of stuff, unisex toilets aren't going to increase sexual crimes... What's stopping a rapist from walking into the women's toilet if he is so inclined? What, you think women drop their panties and suddenly every guy goes beast mode? What kind of savage country do you come from?
Just asking for trouble. This breeds an atmosphere where men can rape women easily and also can set up scenarios where women can blackmail and falsely accuse men of rape. Nothing good can come of this. Also, sexual assaults have increased at every school that has implemented this policy. The research has not gone public yet (partly to protect victims and partly institutions suppressing it), but I work in a field where we see this everyday.
I think its fine if they were single ones.
If ya gotta go you gotta go.
Honestly, I love having separate bathrooms.
Whenever someone is following me or making me feel uncomfortable I go in and either find or call a friend.
If I'm at a social setting it'll make it harder to gossip about the guys as well :(
Honestly this is the one thing I like. As humans we shouldn’t be ashamed of each other in adulthood we all know what parts a man has and a woman it gets to the point where it really isn’t weird.
There may be women who say im worried about perverts etc the problem is that’s not exclusive in public there’s upskirting rape sexual assault being in a toilet isn’t going to change that it can happen anywhere and a toilet with cctv outside is the last place it is going to happen especially with other men around.
My one and only gripe is some men are just disgusting in the toilet but beyond that i’m all for them.
No. I put it doesn’t bother me but I changed my mind. Guys leave toilet seats up. No thanks. But I’ve also met girls who are straight up dirty also. So. I just try to avoid public restrooms in general
Same 😂
Bathrooms in dorms I stayed in were grocer neutral and bathrooms in homes are.. I don’t see the big deal
Of someone wanted to cause trouble they can easily sneak in. There should be security guards in bathrooms anyhow. But making it neutral is no danger.
I went to a school that had 2 separate bathrooms and 3 unisex bathrooms. I never saw an issue in them.
The one thing that I always found a little odd that some of my female friends just decides to tag along to the bathroom, but you get used to it.
Maybe a European/German thing that I am not really bothered by it.
If it's single stall, there's obviously nothing wrong with that.
If it's multi-stall, there's something very wrong with that.
If you are gunna create laws to mandate businesses to have gender neutral washrooms, then you need to fuck off and try and run a business. See how hard it is.
I was very confused on what to do at the only one I’ve been in. It was “All-gender”, multiple use, not a single person one. The trans people would be the easy part to figure out, lmao. My issue is, I’m supposed to be in there while a chick is in there too? I don’t love it, but I’m guessing women would REALLY not love sharing a bathroom with men, at the same time. Like how do you play that in a multi-person use bathroom?
Im usually open minded on many things but this is something I’m against. Women bathroom and men’s bathroom sound be individual. I don’t care if someone gay feels like a female or a lesbian feels like a guy but they should respect that fact that there’s also kids involve in this. You just never know the real intentions of every one.
I had them when I was in elementary school. We weren't old enough to know any different and there were about 8 stalls per bathroom. Rather convenient. Children would talk at the sink and ask how the day had been. Kind of peaceful.
I know that a lot of females may feel anxiety if adult males use the restroom when they are, especially if the female is alone. The world we live in now makes neighbors wary of each other and that isn't a way to live.
Girls have their own bathrooms men have their own bathrooms. If want to cut down on rape keep it that way
Exactly
I already have a hard time peeing in public bathrooms when I know there are girls around me. Can't imagine if it was both girls AND guys. Not a fan. I'd probably wait for everyone to get out before I pee lol
Yes, there is?
I wish I knew. That's just how it is. I know many people who are unable to do urinate or have a bowel movement while they know there are other people in the bathroom. Just something psychological I guess lol
As long as they still have urinals, and put in sinks without mirrors or room to put things down. The hope is that women won't be able to hog the washroom. I've seen way bigger line ups outside women's washrooms, and I just don't want to have to deal with that crap+ I like urinals. If they get rid of urinals I'll start using the sink as one.
For some reason they're kinda dirty as compared to female bathrooms.
Lol it's an observation.
Yes they are
To remain in legal code, we built built neutral bathrooms at the university campus where I work, in addition to traditional bathrooms.
They are a waste of space. No one ever uses them.
"it's dangerous for females"... dude in every fucking club i've ever been to, women go to the male bathrooms anyway, cause men rarely use the stalls cause they just need to pee. and where could it be more "dangerous" for females than in places with lots of drunk guys around? i don't think that argument is valid.
I see them similarly to family restrooms. Sometimes dads are with their young daughters or mothers with little boys. Sometimes a caretaker has a disabled adult they care for of the opposite gender. Sometimes someone simply doesn't want to be harassed. Everyone deserves to be able to pee.
The total irony is the current drive by some to have "unisex" bathrooms.
"Unisex" means "one sex" and they don't realize that IS the traditional arrangement, one sex per bathroom.
The terms they would REALLY want to use would be either "pansex" or "omnisex" meaning "all" sex.
The more they advocate for "unisex" cans, the more they are fighting their own cause and sticking with the traditional arrangement.
Unisex, one sex
That is where this is all going Massageman, that is the end game of this little cult. No more men, no more women.
One sex. Unisex. The great grey blob. Everything is everything, so nothing is nothing, logical conclusion. Been down this road in many a thought experiment.
@Shamalien Until we can completely change DNA, males are males and females are females, no matter how much they fiddle with their thoughts and exterior plumbing of the body.
Sadly, the superficial is so deceiving... circumcision is pretty normal, imagine how fast we get to the point where a simply procedure makes the child neither male nor female. You'll have celebs doing it to their kids, media praising em as brave, predictive programming through tv media etc oh your just gunna love it!
But for certain we are becoming more androgynous, this process has been happening slowly over the last 60 years.
It's a weird topic and it really depends on the person going in, I think having only gender neutral bathrooms available will bring up controversy for the fact that some men or women will feel unsafe, but you would have to think of confidence levels and personal experiences of others to truly grasp the reality of the situation, personally, I wouldn't think anything of it, but everyone is different
Um there are only 2 genders PERIOD!! Why the hell are people telling their kids to be what ever gender they Please?
That's so screwed up!!
I don't mind if it's just one cubicle, I wouldn't use them if it a bathroom with many cubicles.
Last year, a 12 year old girl went in a gender natural bathroom, and she saw a man taking photos of her on the toilet from above his cublice which was next to hers. He was arrested. So there's more of a risk of perverts and pedophiles being attracted to mixed toilets.
Exactly!!!
A recipe for disaster. There are only two genders so only two bathrooms needed. Any non-biological gender is just a social construct.
My residence in university had gender neutral bathrooms and showers. This was like... 26 years ago.
No urinals and all stalls.
Everyone was like “whoa weird” and then forgot it was weird because it really wasn’t.
Most men like myself don't have problems with it but it could be dangerous to females so I think single gender women's bathrooms should still exist. That's how most places are doing it now converting men's room to gender neutral while keeping women's. It's a good way to avoid cases of rape/assault.
If there is room for only one person at a time, then it is alright by me. If there is multiple stalls and both men and women will be using it at the same time, then NO.
That would make it a good place for pedophiles to hang out.
Heard on the news that one place wants to ban urinals cause it would make the restrooms too manly!
I think it is okay so long as they are single rooms with doors that lock. I feel that having stalls will be dangerous...
I don't have a problem with them , but I am willing to bet there will be a number of a certain kind of female who will reject them out of hand, the only place where I've come across these bathrooms is in America, the rest of the planet seems to be happy with the status quo.
That would be the worst!
Coz then I wouldn't be able to pee or poo outside home 😂
Coz its scary but more importantly we need privacy. We dont want guys listening to our business in the toilet
I wouldn't wanna go into one. I have nothing against them, some groups of people are gonna be less harassed there so good for them, no harm with having some of those around. But I'd personally always like a ladies washroom better.
Women, if you accept the age-old male tradition of sitting next to someone, hearing them shit, and instinctively trying to shit louder than them (while they simultaneously try to shit louder than you until it becomes a battle), then I'll happily accept you in our bathrooms.
I'm also extremely enthusiastic about watching you change your bloody tampons, change your kids, etc. just as I'm sure you're excited about the smell after I just got back from eating Indian food, and am about to explode.
Lol. Love the sign. Not an issue. There are countries who have them. it's usually one stall though. I haven't ever been in one which allowed everyone though. I would think there wouldn't be stalls in there. Anyone know?
we have them all over Europe... the urinals and cubicles are obviously separate but wash facillities etc are shared and it makes sense to a degree. its good for those with children and it saves space and having to have separate washrooms
I find it dangerous! Even the bathrooms aren't safe anymore! (Actually... they never were. I hate that toilet monster...)
The only issue I have with it is that there’s usually urine on the floor, which is very unpleasant for most women given that we’re actually able to urinate within the bowl.
because of these mentally off people , I do not go to restrooms away from home
I can appreciate why most would not want to share a gender-neutral bathroom. If it’s a single occupant bathroom I really don’t see why people freak out so much.
It’s fine, though I think it depends on the venue. The bigger the venue the more I think it’s a good idea.
For personal/1 person bathrooms I couldn’t care less.
No bothered at all. It's just a bathroom. It's not like we have separate male and female toilets in our homes, so what's the difference?
The difference is that in our homes it’s 99% of the time just one private toilet, whereas in public it’s stalls.
Based on your illustrative image, they should be more accommodating for aliens. Goddess know where they piss and shit from 🤣🤣🤣 but it's all about inclusion, even an alien should feel comfortable using the facilities, let alone trans gender peeps.
Against it. It should be male and female bathrooms.
You can already use whatever bathroom you want. Try it. The only people who will try to stop you are the same ones who will continue to try to stop you no matter what law is passed.
No no no I can see now some dad will have his daughter with him and she will need to go after she walks in a man does too what do think is going to happen
Because some people just don't approve of this and you don't really no if someone is just acting that way to get closer to kids it just dangerous
It's fine. In no way is it dangerous like people thing. There would still be locals on stalls. And if people think its dangerous its because they think guys are going to walk in on a female. And they still could in a gender only bathroom. I've walked in the guys bathroom because the girls was full. A toilets a toilet.
I don’t care as long as there are still separate male and female restrooms for those who are uncomfortable with a gender neutral one.
Private bathrooms? No problemo
PUBLIC bathrooms? ABSOLUTELY NOT! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!
I never seen a gender neutral bathroom before. I would probably be scared to enter one cause it seems dangerous.
im on the fence cause guys won't want to shit infront of women and there will such long lines for all bathrooms and it can also be dangerous for guys in lots of ways there will absolutely be more public sex and i could go on and on
Fuck that I want privacy don't want no female near me while I'm doing my business plus girls usually stink rooms out I'll stick to gender segregated toilets thanks
Funny thing is women are usually the first to talk about how gender neutral toilets are unsafe and how they want segregated toilets and now that someone has actually said it they want separate toilets they get down voted logic
We have gender neutral toilets at uni and I don't see the big deal. You are in individual stalls that lock anyway?
The bathroom in my house is gender neutral. So is the bathroom at every house party I’ve ever been to. No one ever seemed confused about what to do. Why should anyWhere else be different?
Because love those are just one private toilet. I’m talking the ones that have cubicles.
They are all over in NYC, and I've yet to hear any major complaints.
So urinals as well as stalls, I'm guessing?
Some. Some just have stalls
In my opinion it doesn’t matter. Let the special people be special, but don’t come complaining when something goes wrong or whatever
Seems like if you lable it as a "family" restroom no one thinks twice about it.
I don't approve, women need their privacy in there own bathrooms.
I don't want to be next to some woman dropping a deuce
We have a lot of them in Europe, nothing new. However they are not gender neutral based on politics but rather its easier to just have lavatories without restriction.
No biggie. Just look at places that already have them. No problems.
