What does a Unisex Bathroom Mean?

A unisex restroom allows everyone- including males, females, transgender, who are unsure of their gender, people with disabilities, children, and the elderly, to use the toilet freely under the same shade.

I'm a big supporter of inclusion. But I'm also someone who's been assaulted before by men. I have been followed home by complete strangers. I have been cornered into small spaces by men I barely know. I know that a lot of women consider the women's restroom to be a safe space. In the past, I have personally hidden in the women's restroom from men exhibiting dangerous or scary.

I have no problem with trans women using the same bathroom as me. But I would not be comfortable using a multi-stall restroom with men. People can argue all they want about physical strength or whatever, but that's not what matters to me. Most women are stronger than me too. What matters is how people behave in a social setting, and quite frankly, far more men in my life have felt emboldened to act violently toward me than women. I have no stories of being sexually assaulted, stalked, or physically restrained by other women, but I have had several such experiences with men.

Personally, I think that if a business can afford it, they should try to have all single stall restrooms. Those are nicer anyway. There's more privacy, and everything can be gender neutral. If that is not an option, then it's nice to have at least one single stall restroom, and then the ones with stalls. If that still isn't an option, then I'd say to keep the gendered restrooms, and just don't be a jerk to trans people (non-binary people included).

I think all locations should have at least one gender neutral restroom even if its a single person room. Places which have two single person restrooms should simply mark both as gender neutral. but I don't believe restrooms of large capacities should be gender neutral if that is the only restroom a location has available. Now if they have the space for three separate restrooms which contain three or more stalls each then they can mark one for men women and the third as a family room or gender neutral. Just as certain individuals should not be forced to identify themselves as any gender particularly because they are uncomfortable I don't believe other people should be forced to use the facilities with other individuals who are not of their own biological gender when they are not comfortable with it.

In Euro i was hesitant at first. In front if me was a mother and two young daghters. But they all went to their stalls, I mine. And everything was fine.

Honestly its safer. All children are together with either parent, and more chance of lots of people being present. No ones gonna assault anyone there.

It only works for single holers. If your bathroom had multiple stalls, it wouldn't work at all. Men couldn't care less if they share a bathroom with women. The opposite is not true. Women would not be happy sharing a bathroom with men. They would be vehemently against it.

Yeah I don't wanna be walking by a row of guys using urinals... cause I know someone is going to flash me either on purpose or accident.

Maybe if the far back is where they all go past the stalls... so women don't have to walk near them.

I'm more concerned with pee being all over the toilet seats than anything else as guys aim is not nearly as good as they think it is.

A unisex one stall washroom is fine but people of opposite genders shouldn't be using the same multi-stall washroom and I still don't feel comfortable with a trans person either. The elderly, people with disability, and young children should use a different washroom along with their caretakers. But either way I don't use public washrooms.

There should be other type of washroom which allows elderly people, people with disabilities and kids along with their caretaker. I guess this kind of concept is inappropriate. Why add gender equality in washrooms literally? They are meant to be separated for both genders because of, you know already.

Dangerous things like rape is possible here and very easy too.

i am a supporter of giving equal bathroom rights to everyone, it IS just a bathroom after all, but i would be more comfortable in gender neutral bathrooms that are the types that are just one door/cubicle marked bathroom and that's it, if you get me? but it also really depends on where it is too - i would definitely prefer pubs/clubs to have either male/female toilets or just gender neutral cubicles

Yeah I don't care. The toilet in my house is gender neutral 😂 I don't know why they make such a big problem out of it.
I've been to a gender neutral one before and I didn't care that I was washing my hands next to a guy.

Frankly don't care. A bathroom is a bathroom. Everyone's gotta pee and poop. and I'm more than capable of lunging my 5'11" ass out of a stall to hurt someone for intruding in my personal space

I think it’s a great alternative as long as there’s a safe place for people of their own gender to go as well. So next to a womens bathroom, it’s fine. Not replacing one

The bathrooms are my job are unisex. But it's only one toilet. I prefer that over a bunch of stalls. I would feel less comfortable with that

I have no problems with single person unisex bathrooms, but the multi-person one's on the other hand, shouldn't replace gendered bathrooms. Sharing bathrooms with Karen's is a recipe for disaster.

If it is a restroom designed for one person at a time it does not matter. If it were for multiple people at a time then yes it would bother me.
