Why is my dwarf gourami always so hungry?

I just got a male flame tail dwarf gourami yesterday. He was trying to eat his plant, and then also the fake pineapple (spongebob house) in his tank. Then he tried to eat the rocks at the bottom. I have fed him multiple times (tropical fish flakes) since yesterday. Why is he so hungry?

It’s possible he isn’t eating the food he wants. For example, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter can satisfy my protein craving but when I want protein, 10 cups of salad won’t take away my craving for content and neither will 6 cups of pineapple. Go back to the pet store and ask them what they fed him before you bought him and do it ASAP.

How much are you feeding him, are you watching him eat? The rule is how much he can eat before he starts slowing down, should be about two minutes. If it's a new fish it's usually because stores don't feed worth shit so that first week they'll be starved.
