I’d say it was September ‘19 when I met face to face with the owner of the last company I worked for. I confronted him about the two straight years of unpaid bonuses of $5,000 each that I had earned (but wasn’t worth the extra 40-60 hours per week I was working, plus conditions that made success or any hope of reasonable working conditions impossible), and he kind of shrugged it off and said he’d “look into it” (never heard about it again).
He also asked me for a rundown of our operations for the entire region of New England that I was managing for over 5 years, and working there for 8 years total. He basically asked me a yes or no answer about an extremely nuanced logistics issue, which I began to explain. He rudely interrupted and told me again he wanted a black or white answer, and I was just like “it’s not so simple that I can do that...”, and he turns to his Director of National Accounts and says “I’m gonna slap this kid...” So if you know anything about me, it should be no surprise that I jumped out of my seat and almost over the table at him and said “you’re gonna do WHAT, bro?”😂 The Accounts Director grabbed me up and pulled me back, lmao. I sat back down but I told the dude straight up that it’s not going to go well for him if he ever talks to me like that again. Pretty much assumed I’d be fired then and there, surprisingly I wasn’t. One of my best friends had just left as our general manager, and he said the owner talked to him that afternoon and “liked my fire”, and “how can we harness it?”🤦♂️ But this is the same asshole who demanded I still work remotely the week my mother died and even wanted me doing stuff the day of her funeral. So I had no love for this guy to start with. Especially when I was working 100 hour weeks and working a full day in New York and full day (night) in Boston on the same day, two days in a row, every week, all to cover a labor job that was so unattractive that we couldn’t give it away to the most desperate of people, because he’s too cheap to pay a decent wage.
Then in our conversation he showed he clearly wasn’t serious about making the monetary investment and changes needed to operate a functional business, he just wanted to abuse us while we held the operation together with thumbtacks and Elmer’s glue. I told him straight up that the problem is we don’t have enough trucks, we don’t have enough drivers, we don’t have enough employees, we don’t have enough or consistent inventory to even meet the absolute MINIMUM standards of our chain supermarkets and department stores, who are the ones setting the standards. Walmart? Target? Ever hear of them?😂 And I’m the one getting my ass chewed out when we fail. So I just told this guy the truth, and he wasn’t interested in hearing it. Like he’s basically telling me to manage the customers’ expectations rather than meet them, and that’s just bad business, and I’m embarrassed to have my name and face attached to that.
So that day I knew I wasn’t going to be long for that company. I’m usually Mr. High Road, but my friend assured me he’d always give me a bang-up reference, and I know from other terminations that this owner HATES having to pay into unemployment and does shady shit to avoid it. So I said “this time I’m taking the low road, because FUCK THIS GUY.” So I coasted the next 9 months, doing jusssssttttt enough to keep getting paid and not give him the out of firing me for gross misconduct. And then I ended up finally getting fired in June, at the most profitable time to collect unemployment, at a time when I have very little overhead costs, and I’m STILL coastin’😎 That’s how the fuck I roll, chief. And he lost one of his best employees , so that’s what happens🤷♂️ And I still have friends there, and they say it’s gotten SO MUCH worse now that I’m gone. Those are my favorite texts to get these days😂
Legitimately, the 2020 US election. We had CLEAR AND OBVIOUS Election Fraud that they probably openly admitted to in TIME Magazine and almost no one gives a shit.
This is legitimately a nationwide riot-able offense, and we get almost nothing. Only a few dozen boomers on January 6th, 2021 who stole AOC's shoes and a congress podium (assuming it wasn't orchestrated by ANTIFA, which there is evidence it was). It mean, this is literal world-ending news and people would rather bitch about the newest Star Wars news than corporations throwing out votes, destroying Democracy, and giving the world to the fucking CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY of a fucking silver platter! People will riot over some truly retarded shit like some criminal *potentially* accidentally getting killed by a cop, but not at literal fucking treason and overthrowing the US government so you can make Chinese bucks and sell out your country while doing it because "Orange Man Bad."
We got social media companies censoring and banning the US President and people then want to act like these fucking traitors still have the American people's best interests in mind and aren't going to fuck you over to China.
The level of apathy and acceptance at this election, with this incompetent old fart in the White House, is staggering. I feel like we've gone beyond Clown World now. That election steal, and the following months of pure acceptance from America of it, was enough to break me. I'm fucking done. I'm done trying to defend my country, short of anything that isn't World War III against China. Who no longer have to fear the US since they now own their greatest threat.
I'm serious when I say that was enough for me to bow out of fighting the good fight. America is fucked, and half the country are celebrating it. You deserve to be Chinese slaves for that. Maybe patriots will pull your asses out of the fire, but I doubt it. And I doubt I will be one of them, now.
