Yes- when I know it's expected. That's the root of my objection; I have no problem with paying more, but I don't like unspoken rules. It's widely enough known to tip 15% in restaurants, but beyond that... There was one day, many years ago, when I accidentally offended NINE different people by either not tipping when they expected me to, or tipping them when they weren't allowed to take it. Set your prices high enough to pay your employees what they earn, and stop expecting me to do your math for you.

I typically overtip. Depends on the service and place. People normally say 15% I go minimum 20% and minimum $5. (If we are speaking of restaurants or any other services).

20% minimum for servers, probably more like 25-30%. I used to manage a restaurant so I have a soft spot for waiters and waitresses. So many people are terrible tippers, and I’ve literally overheard customers seemingly looking for excuses to tip less. I’ve had servers who worked for me that I knew to be excellent at their job, and they’d get stiffed. Meanwhile, I know how much it means to them when they got good tips. I try to be a “plus” in life, not a “minus”, so I’m happy to make someone’s day, or at least help to cancel out a cheapskate customer. I also hook up counter service workers where appropriate. I used to scoop ice cream when I was young and broke, it was big for me when people left some money in my tip cup. At that time in my life, the extra $10-20 made a big difference for me. So I just try to pay it forward nowadays.
As a server myself,,8 try to tip to my best ability, but I will stiff someone if I can remotely tell they are being lazy because I don’t appreciate lazy people in the service industry as I have worked with many lazy servers that think they are entitled to a great tip all the time.
Whatever the bill I round up to the next $10 and tip from that amount.
If they were very polite and smile and attentive I'll go higher.
I also clean up the table before we leave. I think it's rude how people leave a massive mess just for someone else to clean up.Never tipped never would. Here it's not a really thing and were it is ya can still just not do it.
Jobs should just pay enough that tips are not needed. Glad it's not a mandatory thing like other countries and that there jobs pay so low they need tips to actaullt get by such a bad system lol.Bigger boobs = more tips it was proven by myth busters lmfao 😂
Always. At least 20%. (Shameful confession. I tip higher if the waitress is cute.) I see a lot of $50 tips in your future. 😁
Are we talking waiter? Delivery driver? Grocery store clerk? Uber or cab driver? Masseuse?
I was always taught to tip 10-20% so I developed a system. Rate the server from 0-10. Then add 10 to that and thats the percent I tip
I usually overtip! That’s my policy in life. Never lower than 20%. Unless they’re rude or the food sucked and nothing was done about it.
Then , they may get ZERO or a penny/ nickelI have a ''no tip'' policy.
I don't get tips for doing my job, either.I usually double the tax, round up to the nearest dollar then add $5 if it was excellent service. For lesser quality service I adjust accordingly
At McDonald’s? No
But for places is standard yeah, usually 10-20%I hate tipping and rarely eat out at restaurants, but I usually do 20%.
Always unless the service was just... TERRIBLE and undeserving of a tip. Also 10% or less, every time.
On the rare occasions that we go out to restaurants, I normally tip the standard 15%, unless the service was extra good, then it's more
So...
10% for mediocre service.
15% for good service
20% for really good service
25% or more for outstanding serviceI always tip the average or a little bit above it. Congrats to you, I bet that made your day.
