Why would a mother disown a son?

I notice that the guy I was talking to is no where to be found on his mother’s Facebook. She has 0 photos of him it’s like he doesn’t exist to her. He is the oldest and has a younger brother and sister. What do you think he could have done for the mother to behave this way?

In my case, I tried to bring my first serious girlfriend over during Christmas and she was black. My mother was a bit racist and often made little slurs towards black people but I didn't realize just how much until she gave me an ultimatum to choose between her or my girlfriend. I chose my girlfriend.

She was a member of a southern Baptist church that gave me kind of white supremacy vibes sometimes, like pastors talking about how white people need to stick to their own kind and so forth. Yet it was very confusing to me that my mother would think the same way since she's a white woman who married my father who is Japanese. So I thought she'd at least be a little more open-minded than the rest of the church about me dating a black woman, but she wasn't.
