The only questions for a dog person is do you have a yard, do you love to walk a dog and have it as a constant companion? Do you love to clean house and vacuum?

If you can't answer yes to three of those four, don't get a dog.

A lot of folk don't realize how people centered dogs are. They need people: their attention and companionship and most of all, their CARE. You can't only get a dog for YOUR needs. You have to realize the dog has needs too.

If you want a no fuss animal, get a cat. If you want an animal that is at your beck and call and always hanging around,, seeking attention, get a dog.

  We have had 5 dogs over about 40 years not one has ever been aggressive or bite and every person I know have never had aggressive dogs that bite, more people are killed by other people than by animals.

  But isn't this according to what you WANT from a pet?
  I don't want an animal that's under my feet, or needs me to walk it and pick up after its poo.
  Cats come to you when they're hungry and when they need a pet. And usually, you can accommodate them.
  Dogs want and need attention on a regular basis and often when you don't have time to give it.. I think cats are more attuned to people/cat needs. They show up when you're down and could use something purring in your lap. But when that time is over, they're off exploring..
  I like that independence. The with you, but not ALWAYS with you!.. Breathing room...
