+1 yI have a fluency disorder so I stutter and clutter my words when I talk, sometimes when I talk I can say paragraphs without either a stutter or cluttering but it's not often and I have to take my time but when I try to say what's on my mind I tend to speak a little bit faster.
Just for those who don't know.
Stuttering is when you repeat a whole word or part of a word multiple times or pausing awkwardly.
Cluttering is adding filler noises like "um" of "uh", speaking fast and mashing words together.01 Reply- +1 y

Louis invented Scat Singing and Ella and Torme Became expert at it. I listened to a lot of my Dad's 78 varnish records and learned Scat when I was less than 10. Mel Torme, mostly. Lol no i only posted that song because Scatman said he made that song to uplift those who stuttered like him
+1 yWe can pick it up, just like any other behavior we are exposed to for a length of time. Being overwhelmed. Stress, emotion, work. All those things can bring it out of anyone temporarily too. A lot of people who are really attracted to someone can stutter/foot-in-mouth standing before them.

Ahhh makes sense
+1 yI am a really bad liar... so if I don't get time to practice my lie, I end up stuttering, and also avoiding eye contact cause that would make me smile and everyone who knows me knows that when the smile shows up, it's a lie lol.

Simply because our body isn't built for moving as fast as we can think. Stuttering can very much be you thinking several sentences ahead of the one you are speaking at the moment.

+1 yI don't stutter, but I do talk fast. I have a friend that stutters and I don't see him any differently, just takes him some time to finish what he needs to say and sometimes he has good days where it is minimal and bad days where it takes him over ten seconds to say a single word.
11 Reply- +1 y
Yea mine isn't that bad. But i have to take a lot of calls for work and i speak fast to kinda rush the caller off the phone lol. So sometimes iβll trip over my words
+1 yI DO CATCH MYSELF DOING THAT! It happens when I'm overly excited.
13 Reply- +1 y
Lol maybe thats my reason too. I can be really energetic haha
- +1 y
Yes! I have been restless the last two days. And I'm meeting with the family later today, I hope it doesn't come up too much

- +1 y
Lol thank you. I have to take a lot of calls for my job so sometimes i try to rush the caller by speaking to then fast and thats when i catch myself stuttering once ina while. But iβll take your tip into account
- +1 y
This actually works, slowing down your breathing calms me down. But I love feeling restless π
But on a more serious note. Thank you for this advice. If this place is full of resourceful and helpful people such as yourself, I am here to stay - +1 y
@Passion_Devil It is like anything else. Caveat Emptor- let the buyer beware. But there are a lot of knowledgeable folks here. Welcome by the way

+1 yBelieve it or not I had a huge problem with stuttering growing up, like extremely bad. Lol 😳
28 Reply- +1 y
How did you get over it? Did you have a speech pathologist? At age 7 they made me go to one for my lisp. So now its not bad unless i say like an L or S word. But if i mumble the word, you can't hear it lol
- +1 y
Prayed about it and asked for healing from God. No girl would ever desire to be with me if I sounded like a total idiot that can't put a sentence together clearly.
Secondly, I faced my fears. I would go though the drive through at Macdonald's and speak which gave me confidence.
Thirdly, I learn to speak when needed and what's needed to say. I use to talk and think a lot of π©π©π© that probably contributed to my stuttering. - +1 y
Wow this is a really helpful technique for others to read
- +1 y
Hope so. Stuttering is the devil. Its horrible. It's cute for kids but not grown ups.
- +1 y
Yea my problem is i try to talk fast to get these clients off the line and i start to stumble over my words. On a slow day, iβll slow down lol.
- +1 y
Did you say 'Devil'? π
But I was told to check you out, I've received similar advice earlier this week. I was told to just... go for it. And that is what I will do. The more we do, the more natural it will be for us to do it again. - +1 y
I used to have this problem as a kid too but then again I lied a lot then π. Now I'll do it if I'm in a rush other than that I don't
