Quite simply no one taught these people responsibility. I've always said human life will always Trump animal life. God gave us rule over all beasts. But as masters it also incumbent upon us to be good stewards of them.
My sister, while she never abandoned an animal would adopt pets, tire of them, and palm them off on other people. We'd get mad at her everytime she did to. Because you can't do that to an animal. They become attached to their owners. My sister was first born with a chronic health condition. So my parents kind of spoiled her. My sister wasn't evil but because she was hardly disciplined she grew up with a bit of s self entitled attitude. My sister was still a caring person. She'd give you the shirt off her back. But she didn't take responsibility. For thing because she knew someone would always clean up her mess.
I'd imagine these people think the same thing. They figure someone will adopt the animal, or they take it to the animal rescue league. Or hey, it's an animal it can survive on it's own... that's what animals do. Smh
I am one of the most easiest guys in this world to get along with there's poor things that piss me off in this world the first one is rape anybody the richest anybody needs to have their ass just fucking beat over and over the second one is premeditated anything the third one is harming a child the fourth one is hurting a pet can any Manor if you can't take care of pet do not get one if everything is good and for some reason one day something happens and it's not good anymore and you have a pet can you get some place so I could get adopted out that pet is still your pet until you hand it over to somebody else no matter what everything else I can kind of tolerate those were things send me through the roof
Usually mentally ill people, drug addicts, gipsies or stupid parents who bought it for there kids at Christmas or there birthday and now realise they it's not a toy it's a living thing that needs food, water and love and care.
My best friend runs a animal shelter and she finds it do frustrating and sad when people do this. It's not hard if you can't look after your pet anymore they are more for some reason they happy to take them in and look after them.
It's such a evil thing to do and can extremely effect the animal negatively and impacts there chances of being adopted again because a lot of people don't want to deal with the animals issues it gained due to being abandoned.
Maybe they moved somewhere that doesn't allow pets or their landlord told them to get rid of their dog. There really could be many reasons, Fluff. And, unfortunately, for some people it's just easier to leave them behind without going through the trouble of finding them a new home.

@Whatthefluff Not everyone wants to just take in someone else's pet and some people may not like the idea of dropping their pet off at a shelter/the pound. Especially if they don't live near any decent ones.
During one of the moves that I endured as a teen, my family and I were moving to a MUCH smaller place and we had two dogs at the time, but there wasn't really any room for them. We ended up taking the smaller dog anyway, but my dad called animal control to pick up our other dog from our previous house. Why he chose to do that, I don't know. I just think sometimes people don't have many other options when it comes to that sort of thing.

They're too lazy to rehome it.
Abandoning is cruel so shouldn't get dog in the first place.
They probably believed the lies people sell about how having a dog can make their lives better but it's the opposite. It's a HUGE RESPONSIBILITY and when they witness the truth, they just throw them away.
If they were TRUE animal people, they would at least see to it they were taken in by another family or person who IS. There is a channel on YouTube called, "Love Furry Friends". It is about found homeless dogs and cats in anywhere from rough to next-to-death condition and rescued! I have watched a few where I bawled my eyes out!! But generally it is a happy ending.
Most places don’t rent to people with animals and those that do usually have size requirements and higher rents. So if a renter is living pay check to pay check and they can’t afford the new place that allows dogs of their size and it’s a choice of their dog being homeless or them being homeless they usually look out for themselves first. That said you’d think they would sell their dog to someone that would look after it rather than toss them on the side of the road.
m the worse is that, sometimes there's Veterinarians who suggest people to abandon their pets "somewhere" if they cannot pay or afford their services... and that's just so messed up
this I know from them place I volunteer sometimes, luckily... the clinic that owns the shelter has some programs to give their services for free when possible, or at much cheaper and affordable prices
but I don't know why some people have it so easily to just not care or ignore their pets...
Yes. It's the same mentality of people who throw family albums, and mementos out into the trash. To them it's just "property" and largely meaningless.
You need to remember that not everyone thinks of pets as pets. For some they are property, for others a problem and for some, just expensive decoration.

I've rescued several dogs that were just roaming the streets some just got loose and I found their owners.
Others were just abandoned and I kept 3 of them others I found a good home.

I know what you mean, my dad a long time ago rescued this mixed boxer/ golden retriever well when the dog came to us, her name was Goldie she was so underweight you could see her ribs but within the due time we gave her a loving home she would come in the house when the weather was bad also where I live now there were some stray cats my cousin was feeding and all sudden they go missing yes so sad and these people who let pets go stray they are sick people and need mental health treatment
There are quite a few places that don't allow pets and happen to be the only places to be open when they need to move. I know a few people that did have to do that, but they found people to take in their former pets. I have all the sympathy. Other people just have no decency.
It makes no sense. The closest I ever came to that was when my parents were away I decided to walk to the Subway sandwich shop. It's about a mile away. I let my dog out into our backyard and left. Since it wasn't hot or cold I felt she'd be fine until one of us got back. She was fine. That was the closest I came and it was pretty hard to do
No real good explanation. Many humans are just pure evil. We just love to destroy animals and nature for pleasure. It is really sad. I wish we could co-exist with everything on this beautiful planet. I'd chase that person down and smack them. Poor innocent dogs.
I don't get it either. Pets have always been family members to me, but I guess others still feel they are just "animals" (like we aren't) and therefore don't matter. Like they don't have feelings or feel pain.

Inconsiderate, heartless people who abandon pets have little regard for the lives & feelings of animals. They consider pets as disposable items. It's upsetting.
Well giving them to shelter is just as bad as leaving them out on the streets. More times than not they die in their alone. At least outside they have a chance of surviving or getting pick up by someone else.
Laziness is my guess. When they realize an animal is more than just a cute fluffy face and actually requires work and care.

True, dogs don't deserve us because we are giving them EVERYTHING and they're beyond spoiled. Only delusional ones says dogs are better than humans when actually it's humans who are DOING EVERYTHING to provide and keep that dog happy!! Clear their sh*t all the time, give up on your own life, spend half of your salary and you get more stress in return. All they do is look cute and wag their tails.
