I remind myself. It's not others. I am my own harshest critic. I cannot silence that voice. Sometimes I want to, but I also feel it is my duty and responsibility to keep me in check; no one else's.
But does it make me feel bad? Oh yeah. Makes me wince. A lot.
No, I don't surround myself with those types of people and call out the behavior in those I do spend time with. Friends cab bust balls but there's a line. When I'm making jokes about a past failure then I'm giving license to those friends to use it because I can laugh at myself.
But someone close to you constantly dredging up past mistakes and throwing it in your face? Na
Not constantly reminded, but I'll get those intrusive thoughts as I'm falling asleep about how I messed something up and now I'm fully awake and fully embarrassed.
