To pick a most helpful opinion, you will most likely get a notice that's telling you to do it after a while. Or if you go back to the question you will see above the guys' answers and the girls' answers, a little empty star that tells you to pick the one that you think what's the most helpful

You're only a few points from level 2. How fast you move up depends on how much you contribute and how often.

Re your update. After a day or two, when you go to your question, you will see a MHO star in each person's reply. Just click the star on the one (s) you like best. How many you can pick as MHO depends on your level.

It will always take at least a day because G@G only updates users' XPERs via a daily cycle. If you earned enough points today, where enough for you is 150 points because that will level you up to XPER Level 2, then you should expect to see a change tomorrow. It's easy. You get points just for posting an opinion or liking a comment. At night, you get points for being MHO or superb opinion. You can go up really fast.
