At what age is it weird for a person not to have a drivers license?

Is there a specific age where if someone doesn’t have their drivers license by that age, there’s something wrong with them or they’re weird? (Not talking about in regards to disabilities or legitimate health reasons as to why someone wouldn’t be able to drive).

30 and up. Though to be fair, I didn't get mine until 22 and it took a ton of effort to get it, including $500 to a driving school.

In our city, you had to own your own car, or a parents, to do the test (they did not provide you with any test cars), which is F*CKING STUPID because you can't buy a f*cking car without a license! It's so damn dumb, it pisses me off even thinking about it again.

So what are you supposed to do? "Oh just use your mom or dad's car!" Like I got a decent mom or any dad at all, asshole! Like everyone's parents just own a car! You can tell some rich two parent dickhead made this law. Furthermore, the main reason I needed a driver's license without owning a car was because you couldn't get hired for most jobs without a license already, which makes getting one even harder! And that was the situation I was in; no job because no license. And I had to hustle to get $500 to get to the driving test, to get the license, to get the job, to get a car (if I ever wanted one).

I swear, just thinking about how idiotic that f*cking city was with their "you need to bring your own car to take the test, but can't get a car or job without a driver's license first" infuiates me, some 13 years later even!

My point is, it's not that uncommon for people in their 20s or 30s to not have a driver's license if your city or state was run by idiots as big as mine!

Not really, it greatly depends on where they live, what local transport is like, what parking is like.

for some people living in a city or large town, having a car is almost pointless.

a friend of mine is 45 and she cannot drive, however she has lived in central London her entire life, pretty much worked in the same area.

Having a car that leaches money is not ideal if it spends most of the time sitting on the drive.

I would say it likely depends on location. There are some areas where many people walk, bike, or take public transportation everywhere and owning and driving a car is more scarce (at least from what I've been told; I don't live in an area like that). Otherwise, I've noticed it's becoming more and more common for people to obtain driver's licenses later or to not have them. I do think it's questioned more in areas in which it would be really hard to commute without one (rural areas or towns in which everything is pretty spread out, for instance).

I didn't drive till I was 19 but even then I felt super old for not knowing how to drive yet. I'd say anything past 18 unless living in the city then it's okay not to have a license

I guess it is not the big thing that it wasa long time ago. I was 16 and a half when I got mine which was the youngest you could be. Most everyone I knew did the same thing. Now there are plenty of kids that are in their 20s and beyond and do not have a drivers license. So I guess the answer is whenever you think it is weird.

Excellent question. I think there are some cities that you really don't need to have a car like Boston or New York.

I think generally most rural people have a car before they are 25 so I dunno.

Different circumstances for different people and also depends where in the world they are. I was 22 years old when I got my drivers license and I'm from the UK.

Not really, some people live in places where a car isn't viable so there's no point to have one. As long as it fits your lifestyle then get one but its not needed but get some form of Identification.

I feel like it's part of being an adult. Even if a person doesn't need to drive, they should at least get their license at 18.

Where I live and where I used to live it was strange for males not to have driver license at the age of 17 and women 19.

I think there are some people who should NEVER have a driver's licence. Just like there are some people who should never have been made Prime Minister.

There are no rules. Some people in large cities with good public transit have no need to get one.

Another common reason why a lot of people reach a certain age without having a driver's license is because they are unable to afford a car and the insurance

You can't get a car without the license. Where I lived, you couldn't get a license without your own car. And you couldn't get a job without a license either. It was such bullsh*t.

23. That's when I finally got mine. Drove for close to 5 years with registered plates also insured without a license.

Depends where you live. I've never had to need to ever drive a car, ever, in my life so far.

I grew up in Philadelphia where insurance was like $250 a month but monthly transit passes were $80, so there was never any need for me to drive either, but you couldn't get hired at most (legal) jobs without a driver's license.

Probably depends on the location - in some places that are more remote its the first thing you want to get when you turn 18 lol, so anything over 20 is weird haha
