how old is your cat or kitten?

and, is the cat actually attacking you... or just being playful?

if he is too playful then the first thing you could try is to distract him with a toy... cats are very into chasing and hunting, so the more you move and try to prevent from going after your feet, the more they will want to play... but you could re-direct their attention towards a toy

if you do not have a toy at the moment, then you cal try to ignore the biting, and then just tell him to stop or say NO, any clear command, and then get him to stop

possible reasons as to why they keep doing that is because they enjoy the reaction they get out of you... or they could be too playful because they miss your attention or want more attention... so try some of these things, or all of them

Your car needs more toys and for you to play with her more often. There are great cat toys on Amazon.

Well, my previous owner would just kick me somewhere. It was fun too because sometimes I'd black out and wake up in a completely different environment.

Play play play! Play is very important, you need to get your cat toys, spend a few times a day playing with it. They usually only start attacking/biting feet when there's nothing else around to catch their attention.

Remember that when you're playing with your cat its actually meant to make up for hunting, cats are pretadors that need to hunt and they need to release that energy a few times a day or that energy will just come out in aggression towards you.

Is your cat indoor only or do they go outside? Before I got mine I watched a lot of Jackson Galaxy videos on YouTube, his videos are very helpful for all cat owners.

Well I'd probably just kick it away but if you see that as "abuse" wear crocks inside, get a spray bottle to spray it with, or scould it and put it in a kennel time out when it does it.

Does it have a toy to attack/play with? You ever give it attention? Make it chase a laser pointer.

I don't know what to yell you, cats are easy to handle, they are only like 5 pounds and the scratches and bites don't hurt that much, they are basiclly harmless to us adults.

    Good luck.

They need to learn bite inhibition. I slap (gently) their nose when they bite me while we’re playing. Took a few weeks, not she literally stops herself when the urge is there. I can see her face remembering the slaps.

Gentle slaps, assholes. Not abuse. Like children, hurting pets does not work. It’s striking a bit of fear and lot of domination. My childhood dog learned best from a rolled up magazine, then I’d slap my hand close to her face. She ducked away with her tail between her legs without ever being touched. Learned quick!

Keep a water bottle handy and spray it whenever it does it.

Also it may have unsatisfied hunting needs. Get toys, throws those at it whenever it does it. If it doesn't change behaviour, up the tactics.

I presume you are already saying "No" and "Oww!" and the cat knows what it's doing, so time for discipline.

    Bite back!

our little weirdo did the same thing, much less now. He has a hunter personality and loves playing. He even tried biting our dogs feet.
we distract him and give him toys to attack. We also ignore it, don’t react or move him... both tactics have worked

This may sound counterproductive, but ignore it.

It's doing it for attention, if it realizes it can't get your attention by biting, it will lose interest in doing so.

Only give it attention when it's nice, and it will learn how to behave automatically.

Get rid of your feet, or get rid of your cat! What a strange predicament… you have a pussy that’s only interested in your feet, instead of a guy who should love your pussy, only being interested in your feet!

You may not be able to. Your feet have a nice odor (even when clean) that cats like. You can try to distract your cat with other things to play with: ball of yarn, climbing tower, etc.

Their biting is a sign of affection. Should we not appreciate that?
Just give your cat an alternative to ease your own ''pain''.

Honestly at 5 years old it's probably not going to grow out of that anytime soon, it's better to train them when they're young. I would opt for a spray bottle of water.
