+1 yI love trains, hate buses.
But generally what I love is low cost to free transportation, quicker than cars, lower or no emissions (my city has all electric trains), no need to worry about parking, and you get to see many more people than you otherwise would.
However, it's hard to balance public transport and car infrastructure. There's also the unfortunate reality in my city that public transport is so often the only space for the homeless to shelter, and the city has removed things like bathrooms and benches. So, in absence of facilities, it comes as no surprise that human waste has become a problem as has open consumption of drugs.10 Reply

+1 yI like observing people. Sometimes interactions are amusing. I've had a lot of those. A guy trying to fan me because the place was warm.
. random strangers starting conversations, little old lady... I feel like I'm experiencing the world... I know how to shorten my answers or avoid conversations if I need to. It's in the eye contact or lack thereof, body language , voice (enthusiasm or disinterest), and patter of speech "OK."
... of course If having a medical emergency or need to be alone, private transport comes in handy.01 Reply
Pros: it's cheaper than a car, it's also comparably flexible because with a car one needs to find a cheap car which isn't that easy in many cities in my area, it comes regularly in time, it's video observed so I feel safe
Cons: it's a big city phenomen, in the bug city close the bus comes every 10min, the moment you leave the big city time doubles or triples, the expectation of a coming storm by the weather forecast is enough to shut it down (I'm not talking about tornadoes or hurricanes rather about a thunder storm or snow fall)10 Reply

+1 yPublic transit, especially rail, is eco friendly. Moving large numbers of people in a train, for example, uses much less energy than those same people traveling in cars. It's also safer, with much fewer accidents, less crime, than people traveling in their own cars and parking.

Messy, smelly, trapped in a small cage with a bunch of phone zombies that could turn on me at any moment, fking inconsistencies, shit takes forever to show up sometimes but other times it’s early, not accepting my card half the time even though it works everywhere else, double or even triple charging me when it does work, fucking absurd drivers, sometimes way insane and fast othertimes drunk or medicated and slow and meandering. Puke. Piss. PDA couples right next to you. Not knowing where to stare. Inconsiderate people who don’t budge when you gotta get off. Sweltering heat in the summer. Overcongestion. Mask nazis are the worst.
Oh and then there’s the times shit just bails, waited hours and walked home before at 1am, fml30 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Other topic. It depends on where you are. When I was in London I loved taking the tube. None of my professors had cars, nor licensees. They never had to go somewhere where public transportation wasn't the most efficient way of travel. The same is true for NYC, although it's a lot less clean than London. Where I live the public transportation isn't nearly as good. If you want to get anywhere in a timely manner, you need to drive yourself of hire a driver. So I like it if it's efficient, but it isn't most places in the US. The cleanliness of the tube was something I didn't expect, but it was welcome.
10 ReplyIt varies but if I have to choose my worst experiences in public transportation, it would be ones in New York. Yep, nothing like waking up early in the morning to the sound of construction, traffic, yelling, and trains. Public transportation in new York is the worst. Not only can they be packed, lagging, and dirty, but they are usually accompanied by weirdos. They include homeless dudes with some obvious mental disorder, a boomer yelling out bible verses whilst giving out pamphlets, drunkards, some dude who gives off signs that he's a gang member with the colors and tattoos he's flying, drug addicts, people arguing, and drug dealers. The positive is the chance that you won't encounter any of these characters. I live in Chicago and not even here do they pop up more frequently as they do in NYC. I'm not saying that we don't have our share of freaks, but I've seen them mostly in New York.
10 Reply12.8K opinions shared on Other topic. I don't like anything about it. It is always late, it is crowded and slow, It is pretty expensive too. I would rather sit in my living room on wheels and listen to my stereo in air conditioned comfort.
40 ReplyI would make an attempt to find the owner, Absolutely, I would not turn it over to police because they would keep it and make no attempt to find the owner. And, if the owner attempted to claim it, the police would call it drug money and keep it anyway.

+1 yI have live in lived in NYC, SLC, Germany these area above named has great public transportation. I can travel any where with in half hour. I moved to the to KCMO 23 years ago and inquired about public transportation. From where I lived to my employment they said it would take 2 hours. I can drive that in less than 30 minutes. I find that the public transportation in this community is nothing but a joke.

+1 yNo gas no car insurance no parking worries although many Transit agencies have prohibitive rule for carrying weapons that are legal and it's rather annoying you don't give up your right to bear arms just because you get a bus

+1 yPros: catch Uber twice in 1 day then catch the bus twice another day and see what’s expensive. Spoiler alert it’s Uber
Cons: I dislike how crowded it gets, when the bus breaks down, having to leave early to get to the bus stop then waiting for the bus10 Reply- 4.2K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 ySOMETIMES, they have rude people on them. sometimes the drivers are flaming assholes. Quite often, they either show up VERY late, too early or never show at all!! And, these days, I'm not even allowed on until I put a fucking mask on, even if I'm the only one on the bis and I'm only going 1 mile!

10 Reply923 opinions shared on Other topic. in cities where it's good there's no faster way to get around
10 ReplyIt generally wastes a lot of time, it doesn't get you where you need to go, you can't transport much of anything, and it limits your freedom of movement.

No. It rarely happens over here. How about you?
- +1 y
That's awful 🥴
I mean, during summer and tourist season it happens sometimes, but not in public transport but in public places when it's crowded (in some cities) so I'm always on the alert, keeping my phone and my bag close to me. - +1 y
It's crazy how they steal it in a second, without a person noticing it.
- +1 y
Yessssss it is crazy ! I've one thing to tell... I've heard this story on tv so I don't know for sure... but some guy's phone kept getting lost over n over in same bus cuz he used to take that one for his route n time... so he got pisssssed like really pissed n decided to be fully prepared n went in bus n kept checking his pocket over n over n kept eye on people n nothing happened... when he got out of bus n checked after, he dint have phone in pocket

+1 yPros: I don't need a car, it's cheaper, better for the environment, no parking issues, no traffic jams.
Cons: Can be crowded sometimes, occasional delays.13 Reply- +1 y
Indeed. To me, the pros strongly outweigh the cons.
+1 yI like public transport. But it needs massive improvements. Frequency, responsibility, condition of the vehicles, accessibility, routes, timetables everything has to be improved.

Second part i can say yea that seems like something people would do... but the mastrubating part? I don't know if guys do that more cuz i think if its somethimg commonly noticed then its easy for girls to have easy access n without making mess theyd be done... here we have buses which have grills in between n men n women section is separated
Opinion Owner+1 yTo be fair it seems to be only a serious problem with the Pakistani men here in the UK. Sometimes a group of them will try and crowd you in a club so nobody can see and grope you, masturbate themselves and even try to force you to have sex or perform oral.
Opinion Owner+1 y@exitseven Pakistanis are cheap I guess.
+1 yIt has its place. New York is needed. Chicago is needed etc.
