Dog's come in all shapes and sizes and some are smarter than many people. After all you've never seen a dog on GAG ask "why does he stroke me?" Have you?
Other dog's are daft as a brush.
Dog's are either four legged geniuses or dumb, there's no in-between.

My dog is pretty smart. She learned that if she jumps in the pool she can get her ball more quickly than if she goes in from the steps. She still has to exit from the steps, but as a her chief goal is to get the ball, that isn't a huge issuefor her.
