I'd rather not drive but in the USA we have a car centered society and our cities are built to make you drive even if your destination is only a few blocks away.

We designed cities to force car ownership and few cities even have subways which is crazy.

I work at a university, I live in the city six miles away and because of the way they designed the streets I couldn't even try to ride my bike there and It would litteraly take two hours , two hours!!! To travel that six miles by bus and I couldn't make it to work on time.

We don't have public transportation. We used to have a bus service, but even with a large cage around the bus driver, someone managed to stab the driver up very badly, enough to need a lot of surgery. All the woman was asked was to pay her fare and she went berserk with a knife in her purse. No more buses. The pay is minimum wage, no benefits, no healthcare, even if injured on the job.

I've taken an Uber a few times - twice because I had to put my car in the shop - but that's very much the exception. I drive 20-25,000 miles a year, as my "work" happens in other people's homes and businesses, so driving is a necessarily evil.

California has a lot of dirty, homeless, crack/meth head, peasantry. Not bashing people on low income with the "peasantry" bit but just saying cuz these homeless are f*cking annoying. The last thing I want to do is take public transportation with a wagon full of loonies.

I prefer driving my car. I get a say in what happens in my car and I do not have to fit my schedule around a bus.

I prefer to drive myself everywhere. I especially love it when time isn't of the essence and I can just drive with no destination in mind. It relaxes me.

Public transport. Honestly, I don’t think I feel safe with cars, especially if I’m going up to Uni 7 in the morning still tired. I only wish it operated on weekends and a little later. I’d use Uber on those occasions.

I use public transit whenever I can. Here in the US, that's usually limited, so I drive more than use transit.

For greater distances i prefer public transport.
The 'everyday'-trips are done on a scooter. Cars? I see no reason for one.

if i can't get there by bike or foot, i drive myself. public transport sucks. binds you to their schedule and is slower while not being any cheaper than just driving yourself.
