It depends upon who I am with bit usually I prefer to be the driver. I do not do well giving up that control to another person. I even get nervous when riding with a friend who has been a patrolman police officer for 20 years. Obviously a lot more experience driving than me, and I refrain from making backseat driver comments... but it is hard.
However I do prefer to be the passenger if I'm in a car with my father. I can't get over the feeling of him judging me and my driving so I become more nervous and make mistakes. It's just easier to let him drive than to dread the comments. I got to be the same way with one particular ex-lover. Oddly enough he reminded me a lot of my dad which led to the end of that relationship. I felt the same way about my uncles (my dad's brothers) and was reluctant to let them be passengers in my car. But they've all said good things about my driving after riding with me so I'm no longer nervous with them lol.10 Reply

+1 yI don't mind either way, but I'd prefer to chill as the passenger. I think it's interesting how most guys would like to be the driver, and most girls chose passenger.

+1 yIt all depends. Some days I want to drive, other days I would rather just sit shotgun.

The driver.
Driving is my life, I love and cherish it. I'm so grateful my parents helped me out financially to get my licence and my own car.
I've driven well over 8000 miles now in the 2-3 years I've had my car. I'm going on a road trip this summer, but I haven't yet planned it.20 Reply

My great fear is losing my right leg.
That's how you know , I rather be a driver.19 Reply- +1 y
I'm right handed, right footed, I can clutch, shift, accelerate with my right foot ( not shift but you know what i mean. LOL ) but I won't be able to do it with my left foot. think I might practice now.
You got me thinking. lol - +1 y
you engage the clutch with your right foot too?
- +1 y
@BertMacklinFBI
Left foot although my grandpa used to use his left hand on his old truck. I think he maybe made a mistake unless he can press two pedals with one foot. - +1 y
@Asker its called heel-to-toe, you use your right foot for brake and acceleration. its a racing technique.
- +1 y
@BertMacklinFBI
But you don't do that when you're not racing, at least I don't, I don't race though. - +1 y
@Asker if you do it long enough it becomes second nature.
- +1 y
oh ok @BertMacklinFBI
+1 yDriver , when i'm a passenger i tend to press the invisible brake, and i annoy the driver by telling him/ her to stop or go at the lights haha

I think I've met the first person who doesn't want to drive...

I'd rather be reading in the passenger seat than having to watch where I'm going. Plus I'm visual so I'll have to remember a path to get somewhere & I can't remember road names... So there might be issues @matheus_mb

I want my liscense so I can drive if I ever need to, but I'm not looking forward to be told to go pick up stuff from the store & all that.
- +1 y
@Littlett25 Got it. But about the paths you don't need to worry, normally we drive only to the places we need to go daily and we automatically remember the paths. I think all of us think it's a little hard to drive where we don't know and have issues with paths in those cases.

Oh ok, When I was 14 I was so excited to do favors for my mom when I finally had a licence. I can understand your hesitance to want to though, it is scary when you're first learning. Hopefully you'll enjoy it more than you thought you would so that getting your licence will be a little bit easier.
