Why is one of my kittens so affectionate with me when it wakes up from a nap and the other isn’t?

like everyone said, yes... different kittens will have different personalities

I've fostered numerous kittens in the past years as well as the ones my cat had a couple of times, till they all got adopted by caring families... and at least in my experience most kittens are very independent and a smaller number of them tend to be more snuggly, cuddly and affectionate than others

it could also be about their age... when they're around two months old, that's when they're weaning, so they're going from their moms feeding them to eating on their own, and you're the provider of their food so around these weeks, you could notice a bit more of attachment from some of the kittens...

and then they tend to go crazy active and become very playful and like to explore around and play all the time, they're so much more interested on all other things in their world and not just the caregivers

another thing I noticed is that around the fourth and fifth month is when they start to bond a whole lot more and become much more affectionate but again, not all kittens do it at the same rate nor at the same time either, and that's just their personalities, each of them will be a bit different or, they just need some more time and eventually will come around to you, lol

Different personalities.
It is possible for kitties to have more than 1 partner, so it could be that.
Just like people, everyone or kitty is Different.
Some are smugglers, some are more independent.
Males tend to be more affectionate.

I have an older make 16 years old, that I've had since he was 2.5 weeks old.
We had to feed him and make him go potty and poop.
He likes being on my lap for 5 min or so then off he goes.
This goes on all night.
He comes up in bed with me, lays on my chest, has enough and toddles off.
I've had other cats that sat on my head.
Give them equal attention.

My cousin has two cats and the older one abuses the younger one when the younger one tries to socialize with the family and I’ve heard of cats in other families doing the same thing, the bigger cat scratches the smaller cat for socializing with its owner cause they are possessive.
