One extreme is just as bad as another. I can guaranty you wouldn't like be unable to cry, either.
Once, when I was a kid, my dad took his belt to me, due to a false accusation made by my sister. I decided it wasn't going to hurt, so when he hit me, I laughed. He hit me harder, and I laughed harder. Eventually, I was laughing hysterically and couldn't stop laughing. This resulted in him never hitting me again, but it also prevented me from full out crying from that point on. I can tear up when I watch a sad movie, but I haven't sobbed since I was little.
To find a happy medium point, turn every experience into a learning experience. Focus on what you have learned from the experience. What will you do differently when you encounter a similar situation in the future? Bring the knowledge forward, and leave the pain in the past.
Learning how to turn off your emotions seems like a good idea; especially if you are in an abusive relationship with someone who revels in your tears. However, doing so can cause gastrointestinal distress; which can be quite painful and caused me to lose my gallbladder.
Crying is a natural aspect of humans. It's a way to relieve overwhelming emotions. You don't want to keep all those emotions bottled up. I don't know if we have much experience with tear duct surgery or something though.
Tear duct surgery would damage the eyes, tears are how the eye stays clean and hydrated, sometimes crying is good for flushing debri out of the eyes, or just preventing it from getting stuck on the eye in the first place.

I once ask myself this same question when I was younger and I still don't have the answer to this question.

Find the source of your hurt, and address it. If it is something within in your control to fix.. that is where I would start.
Nope. You need to cry, it keeps your eyes healthy and keeps you sane, it also helps release endorphins to kill pain when you recieve an injury.
Women are incapable of stop crying. I promise you that. Please understand, I am talking about all women.
Think of something that makes you angry. Try to overwhelm the sadnesss with it.
if you compare your problem to someone in Haiti, just trying to feed yourself every day. Things are not so bad.
