Did you notice any ethnic or gender disparities in continued mask wearing after the pandemic?

I recently started working in a medical research lab and something I've noticed is that pretty much all of the black women who work there (4/5) wear a mask. I mean sure it's an anecdote but I thought it was "odd". Although COVID-19 disproportionately affected African American communities so maybe not too surprising.

And to clarify, I work in a lab not a clinic (patients don't come to the facility so there aren't mask requirements).

I notice many more people of colour (myself included) wearing masks. Where I live, there's also a large Sikh population and they wear masks most of the time, too.

White people (especially Western whites) don't tend to wear masks.

There's more people even in the PoC community who are removing masks, though. It's concerning, but our health system isn't as overwhelmed now so it's less dangerous - if they end up in hospital dying of COVID, there's still enough people to give urgent care to those who need.

But yeah. It's weird. Guess white people don't really care about staying alive as much, lol!

There's a reason for that.

Many black families are still multi-generationally close or looking after seniors who are more suspectable to any communal disease.

Not something you Anglo Americas would understand when you abandon your parents as quickly as you can and don't give a shit about them once you've moved out. I say Anglos because it is a diseased habit of Anglos, other Caucasians will look after their parents, grandparents, etc.

I didn't say white people. I said Anglos because that's reality. You'll almost never find a grandparent living with an Anglo person. But you will often find a grandparent living with say an Italian.

Not a gender disparity, but an age disparity. The old people, the pensioners, seem to be the ones who are more afraid of the bug than anyone else, and are also far more likely to actually believe that their government actually has their best interests in mind when they impose their draconian, and completely unreasonable, "mandates".

Well, yes, I myself DID in fact notice a disparity, but one based neither on ethnicity nor gender, but AGE. Where I live, in Victoria (bet you don't know where that is, and will have to look it up), I see elderly ladies with masks on even in their cars!
We don't have any mandates any more, and yet I see old people with masks on. I see no young people wearing them. I even asked the cashier at the counter in a local second-hand shop, "Why does everyone here have a mask on (ALL the customers were old, over 60), and one of the ladies being served said, "Oh, because it's my choice, I want to". She didn't have to, but she wanted to.

Im on chemo thats why I still where mine. Also to add, vaccinated individuals can still spread the virus aithough theyre less likely to get sick. So those who have small babies or prone family members are just helping protect whomever lives with them typically.

The area I live in is fairly diverse. I see more older people wearing masks than younger. As far as race it is mostly white and then black. Less Asian and Hispanic in comparison. I would say a higher percentage in each group still does not wear masks unless it is required.

I don't think it has anything to do with race. I think it is more so that liberals continued to wear them and Black women by a large margin tend to be liberal.
