I honestly don’t think if it’s even thought about when talking about socially acceptable things… Well, I don’t know lol. But, there’s a ton of bodily autonomy, sex positive, body positive, feminism, and modern lifestyles type of movements nowadays, where people talk about what should be normalized or accepted in society.


I know that many people talk about how people can and should do what they want without being judged, like being overweight, LGBT+, not following beauty standards, being open about sex, etc…


I think that the “sex positive” movement or mindset discusses how people should be able to be open with sex, rather than it being taboo. Talks about how people shouldn’t be judged for wanting to have sex, or having multiple partners, no romantic commitment, and all that stuff.


Obviously it’s not 100% socially acceptable, because society still holds onto some traditional views on sex. However, there are some people in society who are all for being sex positive and open to having friends with benefits. In 2022, I don’t think it’s uncommon to have friends with benefits, because it is WIDELY talked about on social media. Dating/hookup apps have made it a lot easier to access people who are into making friends with benefits.

I don’t and would never partake in friends with benefits, because I find it kinda confusing. I don’t want to normalize or stigmatize it, because people can do whatever they want to do, as long as they’re two consenting adults behind closed doors.

I've started a friends with benefits recently, my first. I'm really enjoying it. I like that I have friends with whom I can also get some sexual relief. We respect each other, hold our boundaries, and both get what we need.

Even older people have friends with benefits, as I'm finding out.

I'm rather against it because from my point of view it's just an excuse to have sex without consequences. It's often completely focused on sex and it's not about being friends but about being fuckbuddies.
At the same time it's an optimal situation for a guy because he gets as much sex ashe wants without actually needing to show any deeper interest in a woman.
So I think it could be a future model of handling relationships.
