Do you prefer to use right or left leg when as-des-cending a staircase? Did you ever think about such things?

Whenever I am staring at a staircase, whether to go upwards or downwards with the stairs, I voluntarily make sure to use my right leg to start the ascend/descend.

And then I also count the number of stairs to find if the ending would be with a right leg or with a left leg.

If the number is odd, the same leg will be there for ending. But if it is even number, then the opposite leg is there.

Its a habit of mine and I quite enjoy it to be honest. Frustrations are also there when predictions are wrong, but hey I like it at that time too!

You can tell your such sort of weird habits too if you want.

You are a little OCD? Is your nickname Mr. Precise? I do things like that too and it started with sidewalk cracks and hopping forward on left foot and catching my weight on that one paver and then doing same thing on the right. I alternated leg walking around the whole yard…even at 15. —You and I going down the sidewalk to the pub, both coming and leaving, could be a freak show… I thought I was the only one with such “Nuisances”.

Another weird habit? I always open doors with my left hand. No idea why.

I suppose I mostly do one but, whichever leg hits the steps first is fine with me.

Coming down, I used to lope so, I'd always lead with the left but the right was always the first to hit. I don't do that anymore because my right hip might give out on me and I'd go tumbling.

Right foot. I am right handed.

Interestingly I was looking at some bats recently and most of them fanned themselves with their right wing. Their were a few leftie bats but not many.

I think right handedness is natural

Being left footed is valuable when playing football (soccer), but not for much else.
