If everything was legal for 24 hrs what would you do?

Depends on if we have time to prepare for the purge or if it is just suddenly announced.

If we have time to prepare, I would secure extra food, drinks, weapons/ammo, batteries, flashlights and other essentials and something for entertainment. Once I secured those, I would sneak into a shipyard and steal the keys to a small ship so I could steal the ship later. I would then hide somewhere near the ship until the purge started. Once the purge started, I would steal the ship and hide out into the ocean until the purge ended. Most people would not bother going to sea for only 24 hours when there is plenty of mayhem to cause in the city. If someone happened upon my boat at sea, I would sneak off the ship as they snuck on and blow it to smithereens and use my backup boat.

If the purge is announced out of nowhere, I would use the supplies I have and use my CO id to secure myself at the jail I work at. If I remember the rules of the purge correctly, government buildings are off limits. If the jail is attacked at least I could shove attackers into cells and lock them in there until the purge ends. I would have plenty of weapons and gear to do so.

Very vicious but excellent question. I wouldn't probably do more or less than usual. Just maybe keep an eye open for some idiots having a stupid behaviour to stay, me and the poeple and pets in my house, out of their way. I'm horrified by some answers on this question, which means whatever our opinion about laws being often silly, there are good reasons to have them. Please people, wake up.

Go hide in an old abandoned mine, that is hard to find (I have one in mind) behind some bushes and trees, break the lock, add my own and hunker down for the day. Ofc I'd take food and water, etc... and be ready to shoot anyone that came to the entrance.

Thousands of old mines out west, government has put metal bars across to lock to keep people like me from entering.

I'd like to go to shops and such and steal money out of cash machines and safes and banks and stuff... But then they will be people a lot more brutal than me doing that so I'd probably just end up hiding with my coins untill the next day

The Purdge I think at least the first one brings to light an interesting point about life in the suburbs where neighbours pretend to be your friend or act friendly towards you but actually may not like you or be jealous or look down on you and if the opportunity arises for them to do harm to you even though you've never done or said anything to them they will destroy your world at the first opportunity if the chance ever arises and only if they know you will never find out and there will be no legal consequences they will take great pleasure at doing it.
