* Sirens blare throughout the land to signal the start and end of The Purge. * All police, fire, and medical emergency services remain unavailable or suspended for the full 12-hour Purge. * The president, first family, and government officials of rank 10, are granted immunity * Only "Class 1-4" weaponry shall be permitted, while Class 5 weaponry (such as explosives) is prohibited. * Violations of any Purge rules will result in death by public hanging.
To take it up a notch, I’ve imposed the following rule:
1. All citizens are NOT allowed to leave the country and MUST remain in the country on the day of the annual purge.
What would you do? Would you take part in the annual purge? How would you survive and make it through the night?

Note: If you were robbing a bank and you crossed over the boundary line of the bank to escape at the time of siren (that makes the end of the purge) and half of your body is still inside the bank, it would be deemed as you have broken the law and will be publicly executed.

Rationale for this is: The annual purge is over and you’re caught trespassing with bags of stolen cash.
If the annual purge were conducted in your country (wherever you are) what would you do and how would you survive?
I would start a business protecting people. It would start off with a few good people I know, and then I'd use some people I have access to to get me more muscle. Maybe after enough purges we could even start doing planned heists and stuff. I imagine people who can afford to have a security detail can offer some good sauce if you can get friendly with them.
If I couldn't get the people together for that, I would just steal cars and go drifting in the streets. Probably crash a lot of them just for fun. I think I'd probably put glue in a lot of people's door locks too so the key can't go in.
Honestly, I'd just do whatever the fuck I want. I'd keep a list of people I'm gonna slap when the purge happens, ride in with a stolen car and I'm not gonna lie, there's certain people I'd pistol whip on that day.
I'd also steal a lot of equipment for my video business.
Probably give graffiti art a shot, always wanted to try that.
I also would be really tempted to walk into random peoples houses with guns, expecting to find a family cowering in fear just to have a nice conversation. Nothing violent or evil... Just kinda dick around for a bit, maybe find someone to teach me the piano. I'd never threaten them, I'd just be really confusing about my intentions so that saying no felt like a risk.
I would go into cop cars and start looking shit up. Just start seeing what I can find out about people, and I'd want to steal a dragon eye speed gun. I would also find a way to screw up all the license plate readers. I feel like a glue gun could do the job.
I would kidnap all my ex girlfriends (except for the Israeli one who's family does jewelry) and put them in a group. Just curious what would happen.
I would move so many street signs. Roads would be mislabeled and stopsigns at 3 way intersections that I frequent would be gone. You only need one stop sign for a T intersection, suck my dick.
I would also steal a train. Again, I imagine it wouldn't be as hard as it sounds and if it is, when I'm kidnapping my ex's I'll juts also kidnap the ones father who works for the MTA. It would be a real pain in the ass but nothing would stop me from finding a train engineer.
Once the train has been stolen, I'd de-rail it in Fairlawn NJ, so that they can finally repave the road by the train tracks. In fact I might try to just burn down every municipal building in that town except for the community center which theirs is really nice.
I'd force a guy who works for my bank to give me a better deal on my loan.
I'd go to a museum for free and mislable everything.
I would steal my dad's Gibson but he can have my floyd rose (he might actually shoot me so maybe not)
That's about everything I can think of off the top of my head, realistically, I'd have to really plan each year out. But I'd definitely love a day where any of that stuff is possible.
I'm a gun owner and ex soldier who keeps himself in shape. It would be a bloodbath. Those who would participate in a purdge would know not to go near my property. In a real purdge the real victims would be the elderly, disabled, the obese, women who live alone, homeless, single mother homes, people who don't know how to use a gun.
In real life I have a one way sign on my property, that way trespassers know there's only one way out...
Yup, you’re absolutely right. That’s the goal of the purge in the film: To rid society of the poor, destitute, elderly etc. I’m in the military too - but drafted against my will though 🤣

i did survival and weapons training, learned with crossbow, bow and arrow and guns, i would go to the most remote place i could find and stand my ground. while most are a wannabe badass with no actual weapons training they would panic and be first gone i assure you. even with my training, would be stupid to pump myself up with a false sense of invincibility. can't say if i would survive or not, but i would fight like hell. you have people with zero training on here with no weapons experience thinking they can kick everyones ass, thats simply not the case. i would fight, that is all i can tell you

Stay indoors and keep the lights off. I can see Americans taking it as a joke or no big deal until crap really hits the fan. People have walked by people screaming out their minds not on guard at all. Ontop that most of them have their heads down looking at their phones, those will be the first ones to ho cause their easy targets.
Throughout the year I would slowly gather supplies/weapons to survive the purge and scout out somewhere I could steal a ship. A few hours/day before the purge I would hide near where I plan to steal the ship so I will be in position as soon as the purge starts.
Once I steal the ship, I'm heading to the ocean and would stay at the very edge of my country's coastal water boundaries but not cross into international waters. Here I would wait out the purge. I would have some meth cooked in case the ship was discovered so I could blow up the ship with whoever tried to catch me inside. Technically meth is a drug, not an explosive weapon, so I would not violate purge rules. Meth would normally be illegal but during the purge anything goes. Then I would take my backup boat and find somewhere else safe to hide.

Id be locked in the house with my guns. Though the reality is that many would not survive. Most houses are not built to take on attackers. In my opinion if the purge was real it really would come down to where you live. I imagine people in Philadelphia PA and other major cities would have a rough go of it and many lives would be lost in those areas. People in more rural areas would have a higher survival chance. Even so. If someone wants in houses are pretty easy to get into. And there is always someone stronger, faster, smarter, or with more guns, more ammo, what have you. Not to be all doom and gloom about it. But the reality is many would die. Possibly even my self. Id sure as shit go down shooting though.

I would hide or not live in the country haha. But if I was alone I would have to do my best to not be seen. I would keep a loaded gun and knife with me. I would probably have a bunker of some sort and hide with trusted people. I don't fight but if I am in danger I will.

I’d stay with family. Everyone has guns and everyone knows how to shoot. We’d pick one home and fortify, then take turns napping and standing watch. We’re also generally good people, so we wouldn’t likely get personal vendettas, but marauders who just don’t know better. Those types would be easily neutralized.
You said to answer based on societal position but other than the mention of president president family & 10 rank government officials are exempt, you didn’t say what your position indicates about the purge so I don't know how to consider it.

But, with sticking to the rules and based on my current skills and equipment, yes, I would participate in it for very specific reasons that I won't give too much detail on.
Yeah I'll just leave the country before the purge or after the first one. I'll go to Ocean Falls in British Columbia. There's the cleanest water and electricity and fish and about 100 people who aren't going to do stupid shit. There's only one way in and out and that's by boat or sea plane.

To be fair, the safest place to survive would be custody jail. So getting a drunk and disorderly charge the night before "the purge" would ensure survival.
I would lock myself in my house. Based on my current position in society I should be pretty safe there. It’s only 24 hrs. I could survive 24 hrs in lockdown easy.
Do note that locking yourself in your house with no security system in place like barricades may not be sufficient. Purgers may use gasoline to burn your house down
Okay because if you watched any one of the films, having a security team might not guarantee your safety. In the Amazon original series, a crazy rich man threw a party on purge night. He had the best security system and team but eventually had his house overrun with purgers. All the party goers including his entire family was massacred.
Of course. You can join in the purge. In the film, it’s your RIGHT. But of course you’re putting yourself at risk of getting hunted too. The film features many purgers who stock up on ammunition for the purge, but they end up getting purged instead.
Ok so it sucks all around. I guess I’d lock myself in my house and hope they picked someone else to purge. There’s 300 million people in this country they can’t purge them all.
300 million people means 300 million possible purgers. If just one out of two people purged, that would leave 150 million purgers on the street. In the series, it featured a scene where neighbours hunted each other over small issues like having their lawn crapped on by their dog etc.

The entire premise is fucking stupid. Unless you live in some communist hell hole people wouldn't be killing each other just for shits and giggles. That said, it's easy enough to defend a home if you're not going to jail for doing dangerous shit. If you're stupid enough to walk into a kill box that's on you... An entire team can be taken out with a small mine or a couple of grenades rolled down a dark hallway... Those movies are fucking stupid. People with thick iron shutters and all that bullshit... A little chicken wire over some tented windows would be enough to stop a breach even from a swat team let alone some nincompoops that are larping in make up. They can't smash in the window and breach easily. They can't see you inside, but you can see them outside and shoot them easily. Those movies are soy boy fantasy.
It's hilarious that you're like they'll have whatever tools they need to get inside. Whenever you have to do something that can potentially make noise, you compromise your position and very easily can end up dead. Go ahead and start rattling that chicken wire while you try to cut it with wire cutters... Why not pull out a flash light so you can see what you're doing in the dark... You can, as long as you’ve stolen it already, it’s yours. Because technically under the law, you got your hands in it legally during the purge when all crime was legal. So the money you steal would be legal to spend as well. As long as you step out of the bank with the cash before the siren.
Fair enough. That’s what I had in mind while watching the series. I was gonna grab my military gear, put on some face camo and camp deep in the jungle.
