What do you think of the slogan that nothing good comes for free?

Today a family visited our home with their dog and I avoided playing with him in the garden because he would only acknowledge you when you pet his neck and bending o ground level to pet a dog is uncomfortable in a high elevation chair, especially if you have to do it for half an hour straight and I realized the dog owners probably pet him for 2 hours a day, it shows that the things that solve your boredom problems bring problems of their own that aren’t boredom and my cousin said there is no free lunch.

Challenges beget more challenges. Thank god for that or we would be reallly bored, which it turns out is a biological advantage, so we never get complacent.

“Nothing good comes for free”, which could also mean nothing bad comes for free. Everything in between is boredom.

I like the scientific way of looking at it. All currency is energy. We are constantly consuming and expending it passively and actively all the time. We are never poor, in a sense, as long as we are alive to even ask the question. It’s a statistical miracle we even exist at all.

However, I think the saying love is free is derived from an ontological fact. It exists and it feels good when it happens, just because. There is no cost of a fact to exist. When it happens, it continues to happen and it’s as if someone or something has decided to gift us. It’s as concrete as the laws in the universe which we just don’t know why they are the way they are, they just are. They’re freebies, givens, or daresay blessings.

As to your challenge, couldn’t the dog hop up on a bench or chair? Furthermore, even the dog has boredom and other things to attend to. We all do for that matter. It’s not a problem per say but life’s way of telling us to seek out variety and find something else to experience. Maybe a cat? Maybe throw nuts at a squirrel. Play fetch with the dog. Teach the dog tricks. Feed the dog. Train the dog. Whatever floats your boat.

I think in general it's true, however getting bargains and such is my specialty haha. I love thrift shopping, buying stuff off Facebook Marketplace to save money and sometimes people give away things on free pages. In today's society you gotta find ways to save.

I don't necessarily agree. I think things like family, friends, pets and nature are all essentially free, and give us feelings of calmness and affection.
