Guys, what is the best way to handle someone that you're not interested in --- but wouldn't mind having as a friend?

Normally I wouldn't consider having a "friend" when they wanted romance. It's messy, it's a pain and everything else.

But the guy really has had a tough go at life. And I'd like to be help him - for example teach him how to cook a decent meal so he CAN land a woman that would appreciate him, etc.

Or should I just say fuck it and leave him.

*If you're wondering why I didn't consider him just no click. I tried, etc. but you can't force something that doesn't exist.

I think you could make things worse.
possibly get in the way if he does find someone.
If you see potential and willing to put in the effort to build him up than why not look at him for a long term relationship.
Romance fades but a good partner won’t fade away.
