Why is it more acceptable to be a childless, single older man than a woman?

He can be seen as a cool bachelor and nothing much is said to him. Yet, an older childless woman is discriminated and even people make ''have fun with your cats'' (even if she doesn't want nor likes pets) derrogative jokes to her.

Even the word bachelor for a guy is a cute word in comparing to spinster or crazy cat lady for a woman; thats derrogative.

It isn't exactly cool but the simple reason is likely biology paired with it just being more normal.

It is no secret us guys are fertile longer and due to how pregnancy work carry less additional risk than you do as we age and recovering becomes more difficult. That lowers the pressure.

But also socially and more interestingly there have traditionally always been a little more guys than girls. Yes, there are more women alive but still more men born. We just die earlier.
In fact every single country in the world for the last 50 or so years has had more men born than women.

Now this trend didn't start 50 years ago. Instead there has always been a surplus of men and as such we have always been more likely to end up alone. Which while perhaps sad in one way also means that there has been decades, and likely millenia of normalizing it. So there's that.

Because men don't birth the baby, that's why. The woman could've aborted, if she wanted. Or chosen a better, more reliable man. But I will give widows a break; they didn't do anything wrong.

The stereotype is, all of her bad choices are purely her own and no one else's. Since the man doesn't give birth, he's stepping up to raise the child, but doesn't have to. Single moms also tend to be the most entitled, wanting men to invest time in them and their kids, with little to no incentives or positives for the man to do that.

Because women often times can become infertile when they get older, whereas men don't although from what I've heard, their sperm quality goes down and they could shoot blanks, etc, but it's still more possible for a guy to have them when he's 'past his prime'.

I hear derogatory comments from women, more so in my thirties than now. Generally, women seemed to see unmarried men the way they see unleashed dogs. Sadly many women are ending up this way, and many more will its like incel but for women. They are victims of feminism. All the women doing onlyfans, and who have sex with 50 different men are going to be 40 year old cat women no husband no kids and they will be miserable. Its kinda sad.

It does not matter what you do, someone somewhere will find a way to hate you. So its more of question for the women to ask herself. People may think "oh thats sad" while walking down the street but then a week later will forget the person even exist so whats the point in caring.

Self fulfillment is viable and possible as humans for both men and women but that does not necessary mean you have to be alone or that being alone is what self fulfillment would look like. it really just comes down to case to case on the individual level.

Why are you asking this question, are you older women who is alone? There was this old lady that used to walk her tiny dog around the town back in my old town, and I did not mock her she just seemed like another person out there living her life. But that was in small town USA, so maybe it could be different in other places

I don't know. I would never say anything like that about a single woman with no kids. In fact I'd probably ask her out if I was attracted to her. It's so rare for me to find someone my age that doesn't have kids.

When I was 33, I went on a couple of dates with a 19-year-old. I told her she was the oldest woman I could find in Alaska without kids.

@MikeInHawaii a lot of women in California have kids later in life, not like country girls or ghetto girls. There are plenty. One of my friends was in Costa Rica for a few months on business. He was about 25 and and he said all the women his age except the rich ones from the big city had like 4 or 5 kids already
