For whatever reason, I can’t decide which order to put them in. Is any order “too obvious”?
Also if you want to drop two truths and a lie in your comment, I’ll guess.
I don't think the order matters as much as the believability. If you have two fantastical truths, make the lie just as hard to believe, or make all three simple things everyone has done but you haven't had the chance yet.
Let me try the first example...
1) I once sang karaoke with a famous NFL player.
2) I was once falsely arrested for murder due to mistaken identity. Not charged, just taken into custody.
3) I once had my thumb cut off in a work related incident.
First time I've ever played this. Truth lol.
I think 2 is your lie?
I’d put it first or second. Third you might accidentally think on it too long and give it away that’s the one lol.
I’ll drop some now!
1. I still love chicken nuggets
2. I played soccer in high school
3. I’m 5’2”
I wonder if soccer in high school is your lie.
If 1 is your lie, it’s a good one because you used “still” which lends to the idea that once you love chicken nuggets, maybe you always love chicken nuggets.
Obviously I could be way off base.
Aha! Good job!!

hmmmmmmmmmm...
let's see, usually, people tend to register better on anything you've told them last... so I would place the truth first, so they cannot think about it more properly
also, maybe people know you a bit, so they might be familiar with the things you tell them, so they would be able to recognize when you're telling something that is true versus not true... lol, it will be in your mannerisms and gestures, and they might pick on that just by the familiarity they have with you
but still, to me... trying to guess, I will not care about the order in which you say things, I will focus more on how you say these statements and I will even try tricks lmao... as you say each one, I will make my own gestures, I might say something like HMMMM, as you speak, just to see your reactions to my actions... lol
so, here's two truths and lie
- I've had a duck before, and I named it "Pato" and my brother said "that means duck!, that's a dumb name"
- my brother had a duck, and I named it "Pato" and my brother said "that means duck! lol, that's a cool name"
- I had a duck, and my brother named it "Pato" and I said to my brother "that means duck! that's a dumb name, let's go with it... lol"
Ah I should have clarified. We had to submit our three statements ahead of time. So I won’t be sharing them aloud with body language. I’ll likely choose a spot on the wall to stare at while mine are being read.
Good call though on reading mannerisms and gestures.
I’m going to guess that your second statement is false. Mostly because the other two seem like they go together.
My sister advised me use a lie that was extremely close to the truth such as “I grew up 10 minutes away from the beach.”
Then reveal that it was actually 9 minutes away.
lmao... that's a tricky one
actually I got the game wrong... I wrote one truth and two lies, lol
Well shoot! Well which one is true?
the second is true... he had a duck, lol
and I barely remember it since I was two to three years old, all I remember was chasing it and calling it Pato... lol
Hmm. Good question, DC. I have thought about this in other contexts, how people 'package' things. Like, I've read about it a bit with giving criticism/critique. And narcissism, come to think of it. They tend to stack a positive first, then neg the person, then end on a positive. Apparently this really confuses the receiver.
Here's the first thing that came to mind... I don't know why...
1. I've ridden a horse.
2. I've ridden a motorcycle.
3. I've ridden a mechanical bull.
One of them is many times. One of them is just once. One of them is never but I might do it once, if an opportunity presented itself.
Ah, the old “Oreo Cookie” method, at least I’ve heard it called that. Seems the cream would be the “negative” in that method though.
I like this.
I am going to guess that you have not ridding a motorcycle.
I have ridden a motorcycle. (I didn't drive it. A guy friend offered me a quick ride one time. I always thought he was a super nice guy, and when he pulled up in the leather get-up, looking so confident, all sporty, I have to say I saw a new side of him, ooh la la. We never dated because he was someone else's boyfriend. She was a nice girl too, lol. Good things sometimes come in edgier packages, but without all the trouble. I haven't thought about him since writing this comment! Hi, Peter.)
I haven't ridden a mechanical bull. I've seen it on reality TV and in movies. It looks like something everyone should do once, in their 20s, in a drunken moment in a bar. I can't really imagine me doing it, in a way, but I also think I should, lol.
P. S. I think people are wicked, how they play this game. There aren't many rules, so people tend to really play brinksmanship with fairness. Changing "9 minutes" to "10 minutes" is not fair at all!!
I created a q where I give a bunch of truths about me and a bunch of lies, and invited people to do the same, and I was way more fair about the options than many other people were. If they make it impossible, it will be impossible. I don't see the sportsmanship in that.
Ok, I can see where that would be a problem. I don’t think anyone did that when we did the game for work. Not that I could tell at least. And what a waste! They didn’t even get to half of them because there were too many people. So about 40 two truths and a lie went to waste, including mine. I was stubborn about playing anyway but got into it only to end with frustration.
I’ve been on a motorcycle but just in a friends very large yard. Pretty much in neutral the whole time. I couldn’t stay balanced.
I’ve done the mechanical bull at a club once, dressed in jeans and a dressy top. Couldn’t stay on with the spinning but it was fun. Probably wouldn’t do it again.
Never played it, but it's called "2 truths and a lie", which implies an order, so I would put the lie last. I'm guessing the purpose of the game is for people to try to figure out which one of the three statements is false, and some people would overthink it and think that the person would put the lie in either of the first two... so I'd do something different.
I’ve been overthinking the order since the moment I was given the assignment!
I ended up putting my lie first.
Deep throat (The X-Files) “A lie is most successfully hidden between two truths.”
Well shoot! I ended up putting it first. I thought it would be too obvious in last place. Which is probably what everyone thought. I wonder statistically what the most common place is for the lie.
I like that quote!
*convincingly not successfully.
I would think putting it first would be smart too.
It doesn't matter where you put it just think of something true to you and put a slight twist on it to make it false.
That’s a great suggestion. Someone else suggested that to me as well.
Truth: I have over 7 pairs of wireless headset across multiple devices.
Truth: I have two cats.
Lie: I live with my grandma.
I always say the lie last and make it as mundane, believable as possible. From the choices most people people pick the headphone one because why on earth would I have so many headphones. Why? I just love wireless headphone; I had more, but a lot of them broke over the years.
Order doesn't matter, its all about how you frame the lie. I use all 3 orders
My assumption would be that number 1 is a lie because the other two seem related, bikes and stunts.
Maybe that’s part of the game to use answers that could be related.
I do not have a particular order, but if playing multiple rounds it is NEVER in the same order twice in a row. Here are mine:
1. I've fought someone on a PCP high alone
2. I threw a man who outweighed me by at least 100 pounds down the stairs
3. I have met Taylor Swift in person and not known who she was.
(1) My net worth is a million dollars.
(2) I worked in F1 racing.
(3) I did Search and Rescue.
I would guess 1 is your lie. I’m guessing based on your username that 3 is correct. If 3 is true, I can also guess that 2 is related to a search/rescue adventurous life.
So by default, I think 1 is a lie.
Got it in one! I chose option A
It really does not matter. The odds are exactly the same if you guess randomly no matter which position the lie is in.
I rarely have anyone to play it with. The order changes.
I don’t usually either! But this is forced for work. I’m not overly keen on sharing but I think this will be fun to learn more about people
I usually try mixing it up. Depends on the person who's asking, really. I don't reveal much about myself anyways so it's always fun to watch everyone's reactions and see them scratching their heads
Put it in the middle or first, it’d be more convincing
I'll give all three as lies and they will go dizzy trying to find which one is true.
Dare every time. Let them decide what happens
This isn't truth or dare, my guy. It's a completely different game. You spin the bottle (or take turns) and the opposing person needs to ask you two truths and a lie, then they have a minute to guess which of these is true and which one is the lie. If they lose, they're out. If they got it right, they get to spin a second time and ask someone else
@BullShark rip me then
repeat question yet again.
why does this keep coming up?
I won’t say which one is the lie. Just figure it out
I'm not sure... never played
Here’s your chance…
😬😬😬
I try to switch it up… lolm
Second, I put my lie right in the middle.
